Not worth the money

Perhaps because we were trying to escape a slum situation, my roommate and I immediately fell in love with Twin Creeks. The honeymoon ended soon, however, as the management promptly screwed up our deposit/first month's rent/discount information. The manager at the time, DeWayne, was very nice and very incompetent. Every time we called the office, regardless of cause, we spoke to someone new who had no idea what to do about whatever problem we had. Twice we were given notice that our rent was delinquent, only to visit the office and hear 'Oops, that was our mistake. Um, which apartment are you in'' GET A RECEIPT FOR EVERYTHING! While the covered parking spots are a blessing when it's hailing, they also provide a dark and frankly scary place. The spaces between buildings were either unlit or lit with spasmodically flickering floodlights. Maintenance is a joke; upon moving in, I filled out our "move-in worksheet" and called to try to get a few things fixed. They were still broken nine months later, when we moved out. We walked into the empty apartment to find windows open, the AC on high, and what appeared to be cat droppings in each corner of the living room. (They obviously hadn't even vacuumed.) The maintenance workers themselves are very nice, and will fix things in addition to those they were called for; the problem is the middleman, management. Heating and cooling costs were ridiculously expensive, partially because of the huge staircase to our apartment that we heated/cooled, as well as the poorly sealed doors and windows. Water and trash are paid by the tenant, which seems crazy because of the high cost of rent. Rules regarding tenant behavior are sketchy at best; when I called to inquire about their pet policy, I was told that they allow pets that are less than 20 pounds. It seems that the lady two apartments down, with the mastiff, was never made aware of this. The bottom line is that the management here was incompetent, completely and thoroughly, and that can ruin an otherwise lovely, although totally overpriced, apartment.
