Not bad

I am currently in the last month of my 12-month lease and looking for a new apartment. However, as I am looking I am realizing that my current situation is really not so bad. Parking is ALWAYS available and lit pretty well (although people have had incidents as with all apartment complexes). The noise isnt too bad but try not to live on the first floor because some people aren't exactly light walkers. The grounds are kept pretty neat...there is the occassional trash or dog poop but it doesnt get horrible and gets cleaned up pretty well. There is a well kept pool, a jacuzzi, a work out facility, a game room (with a pool table), a small computer room for residential use, volleyball court, basketball court, tennis courts, and plenty of grills and picnic tables. As for safety, they have panic buttons if there is an emergency, and there are locks on all the doors (interior too) and the windows. Also, my neighbors window got broken by someone and the alarms in the breezeway immediatly started to go off and a cop was there within minutes! The flooring is new and furniture is being replaced (so I hear anyway) and they places are newly painted. The washer and dryer are pretty noisy but at least you dont have to go to a laundry facility. Maintenance is very quick, and you can make a work order online. My heater had something faulty with it in the middle of a very cold January and they took care of it very quickly (or so they thought). However, when it messed up again they realized it was a bigger problem than they thought and set out to fix it...however, that was going to take a little time (to get some part in the mail) and they gave me about 4 space heaters...and when my excess utilities bill was twice as much as usual (b/c space heaters take lots of electricity) they took care of it. The staff is mostly just a bunch of students trying to get reduced rent but they take care of things okay. Overall, I would recommend this place if you want a furnished apartment that you pay for only your room (all bills included in rent, even internet and cable with basic hbo...with the exception of excess utilities when you go over you allowance cap) on an individual resident basis (each roommate pays for his room...so if someone moves out you dont have to cover the whole thing!), plus there is a free shuttle that runs residents to the South Oval of campus every thirty minutes. Definetly look into!
