Just because the lobby is nice doesn't mean the complex is...

I lived at BWV for 3 years. My first impression was that of the lobby. The second I walked in the sweet smell of some exotic glade plug in caught my attention and about knocked me on my feet. The apperance of the lobby was very impressive.
They allowed me to look at some apartments and showed me one that was available in the 9012 bldg. It was luckily on the top level and i turned out having some pretty good neighbors.

About a year went by and it was time to renew my lease. It only increased about 15 dollars so i wasn't really upset by that, but i had just gotten new neighbors below me and i could for sure tell they were into drugs in more ways than one. A few months went by and the noise increased around the area and the neighbors below had people pulling up at all hours of the night. Any person that has street smarts knows what was up with them. These people were straight up dealing drugs from their apartment. I made numerous complaints to the manager but the only thing that increased was a few more roll by's from the security guard driving his little ford ranger. Finally those people ended up moving out, probably due to the fact that they were smart dealers and knew that they couldn't stay in one place for a long time.

At the end of my second year there I started doing month by month leases. The price would jump like know other. The noise was terrible from other people living in the apartments across the street. I am not a lame person. I like to have a good party now and again, but when you live in an apartment complex you DO NOT INVITE 40 PEOPLE!!!!! People that didn't even live there would take up all parking spots so you would have to end up parking in another lot. People thought it was no big deal to rev up their truck or car at 2:30am and screech down the street. Vandals were everywhere and the lighting in the parking lots was terrible. The laundry facilities were not up to par most of the time. You needed to wear rubber boots if you were going to walk in there. Water would back up and some washers would not drain.

When i called maint. they would usually show up in a timely manner and do some what of a job but that was it. They would never really fix your problem, but just hide it so it would get you by for the time being. I never had issues with bugs or insects luckily but know of a lot that did. The maint personnel were friendly. Most knew what they were doing. The office staff would do what they had to do. I recall maybe 2 or 3 that were really friendly and made sure my needs and others were met. Some of the other staff members were not that friendly and said hardly anything when you walked in.

I will say that during my last few weeks the OKC Police were making more random checks in the lots and streets. However, Brookwood I don't believe is doing good rental record checks on a lot of the new residence moving in. They just want those apt's filled so they will do whatever it takes to get someone moved in and will not bother to track the complaints that are made on an apartment. I mean most good places will kick you out if you have 3 or more complaints. If you are really debating on renewing your lease or maybe considering Brookwood Village as a place you want to move into, I would take the time to read each and every review your could possibly read about this community. Maybe consider some down the street that are gated.
