A Helluva Experience For My First Apartment

I moved in to CROOKWOOD in August of 2008 and was pleased at first. Maintenance was always prompt and fixed whatever problem I had...however, after about 3 months of living there things changed.
I live in gate 3 on the bottom floor so whenever it rained heavily, water would seep under my door and into my apartment. So there was issue number 1: water damage.
I have a 6 month old puppy and my younger brother was living with me at the time and while I was at work one day, I received a phone call from him telling me to come home and it was an emergency. Some neighborhood kids saw my brother walking the dog and tried to steal him and when my brother wouldnt let them, they jumped him and hit him in the eye with a belt buckle. I went to the leasing office for security issues and they stuck a fat patrolman in a rent-a-cop car who drove around for hours eating donuts and talking on his cell phone. So there was issue number 2: security.
One night I passed out on the couch in my liivng room and the blinds were half way up. I awoke at about 4:30 am because I had the feeling of being watched and when I sat up on the couch, there was a man in a hoodie kneeling down and staring in my window. When his vision focused and he saw me, he ran. I called the cops who showed up like 15 minutes later and they 'patroled' the area for about 3 minutes and were gone.
The following weekend, my brother and I were in the living room on the couches with the lights out and talking (we began to sleep in the living room after the first issue). He shushed me and pointed towards the window and there I could see the shadow of 2 tall me on each side of my 2 windows. We got on the floor and I called the cops and we sat there in horror as these 2 men tried to open my windows and open my door. My dog woke up and started barking and the men ran. The cops came and did the same 3 minute patrol.
The very next day, it happened again. I jumped out of bed when my dog sat straight up with his ears pointed and in my bedroom window, I could see the shadow of probably the same 2 men, and again, they were attempting to open my window. However, all of my windows in the apartment stay locked. I called the leasing office the next morning and spoke with the leasing manager Sherry and told her of the occurances and she said she would be sure to have a patrolman on site at all times. That never happend. I would always see his large frame leaning back in his patrol car talking on his phone and not doing his job.
I told Sherry I wanted out of the apartment because I feared for the safety of myself and my brother and she told me "The only way I can let you out of your lease is if you pay $1,400 for breaking the lease. I could move you to another apartment in the same compled but you would have to renew your lease. I wasnt going to do either of the 2 so now I'm stuck in this apartment until Feb. 5, 2009.
I feel unsafe in these apartments and I'm sick and tired of the community animals that roam this place at will. The leasing office staff will woo you with their charm and kind words but they dont care any more than the leasing manager. I spoke with the cop during the last attempted home invasion and he told me that Sherry sucks and all she cares about is filling the apartment complex because she gets a bonus every year for having the biggest complex in OKC. He said the apartments are horrible and overpriced (which they are) and I should get out as soon as possible. And thats coming from a cop! He also nicknamed the apartments CROOKWOOD VILLAGE AND BROOKHOOD VILLAGE which I think suits these retched apartments very well.
February 5th, 2009 will soon be here...and then its GOODBYE CROOKWOOD VILLAGE FOR ME.... 6TrHFn6pn7poyqNlKEgn

I live at gate 12 and though I haven't had any break-ins, except for my husband's car getting broke into every week. We have lost a car stereo and a really nice bass guitar. We also discovered that they had been over-charging us for a while and I luckily got it cleared up. We will be moving to the new condos behind CVS on SW89th & Western. I will not be recommending them nicely.

My fiance and I lived there for a year. When we got the 'oh so wonderful tour' we were expected to receive just what we had seen. Ohhhh no. Our apartment was NOTHING like the model. We had roach infestation problems and my car got broken into twice. They stole my wallet once which was of no value, thank god. The worst part for me was when I called maintenance to fix my rotting ceiling. The people above me had a line bust and I was left with huge water spots and the beginning of mold. I had just been home about 2 weeks from having a baby. The guy that was there to fix it came in while I was breastfeeding, walked to where the damage was and just spray painted over it. Not only were those fumes harmful to my OBVIOUS child but it wasn't fixing the issue. I can say that I am beyond happy at being out of there and in a gorgeous house. I would never recommend that apartment complex.
