I knew from the first moment I saw the Gables that this was my new home. The staff was nice, and didn't bother me with annoying calls before I made my decision to move in. They even worked with me on which side of the complex I wanted to move into, and made sure it was ready for me by the deadline I had leaving my old residence. The grounds are beautiful and make me feel like I have a garden right outside my window, there are huge crept myrtles everywhere and the complex is surrounded by a wooded area making it feel secluded. The interior of the apartment has a great open feel. I live in the one bedroom w/o a den. I love the size of the kitchen because there is enough room for my full size table, and it doesn't feel cramped. There are vaulted ceilings in every room and plenty of windows that let in so much natural light I don't even have to turn on the lights during the day. There could be more closet space as the only closet is in the bedroom (keep in mind this come from a girl with more clothes shoes and hand bags I could ever use!!). Compared to other apartments I looked at I would say that even though this one is a little more on the rent each month it is worth it since I don't feel like I live in a dark box. I do get a $20 discount for working at Cingular Wireless, and the rent includes the water and sewage, so the only bill I have is electricity. Because there are older, and the due to the vaulted ceilings, my bill usually is $90-$120 depending on the season. When I compare all this to what I would spend at a lower cost apartment where I didn't like the interior (not enough windows, boring big box floor plan, ugly grounds, more noise) I think I would come out on top. I would probably only save around $50 if I moved and still wanted to live in a decent safe complex. And its not THAT expensive. I looked at several other complexes in this area that were anywhere in the vicinity of $650-$800 a month for a one bedroom, and I still liked the floor plan of The Gables the best. The only complaint I have is if you come home much later than 9 PM, the parking is pretty slim. The only time this bothers me though is when it is really cold in the winter or I have a lot to carry. But hey, for renting this place is the closest to home as I have found.

Parking is only bad if you live on the south side of the complex.
