They don't like to inform you of large fees and policies untill it's too late.

My husband and I went to The Greens at Moore and looked into getting an apartment there. We asked the leasing agent about their pet policy and she said, "We have two buildings where pets are allowed and we currently have a two bed, two bath open." We asked if we could see the model and she showed us. The carpet in the model was a light tan and I specifically asked what other colors of carpet they had so I wouldn't be surprised once we moved in. She said "We only have two colors. It will either be this light tan color or a darker tan color." My husband and I decided to put down our security deposit and get the apartment.

The day we went to sign the lease (only 5 days before moving in) we were informed that there would be a $300 pet deposit. We had no idea of this before and were under the impression that since they had special buildings and the price seemed a little higher on them that the fee was rolled into the monthly rent. Well, we were wrong. The leasing agent should have clearly pointed out this deposit when we first looked at the apartments. Then we were told of the $20 a month "pet rent", another fee that should have been pointed out in the beginning. Next we were told that if we wanted the 6 month lease it would be $15 more per month, another fee that should have been pointed out in the beginning. Then we are told that we would have a $125 deposit for our water. Of coarse it's The City of Moore that charges this deposit, but it would have been nice to know this beforehand. So we're informed of $460 that we're going to have to pay in order to move in and we're schedualed to move in only 5 days. We had nowhere else to go so we were kind of forced to come up with the money and move in to The Greens.

Moving day came and we paid them $460 more than what we were expecting and we get our keys. I open the door and to my surprise, DARK GREY/BROWN CARPET!!! This was hardly the color the leasing agent said we could expect. We finally found out they have 4 colors of carpet, NOT TWO!

It had been 3 days since we moved in and everything was unpacked and put into it's place. Then the manager comes in to patch up the carpet and he see's our three cats. He says, "You're only supposed to have one pet. You need to get rid of two of them." Well that wasn't going to happen so he said if we didn't get rid of two of them we would be evicted. I never remember being told of this policy, but we actually signed a pet paper that asks for your pets name. However, it only asks for ONE pet which is supposed to mean that only one pet is allowed. The paper isn't very clear but the manager said that since it said "pet" instead of "pets" that made it clear that only one pet was allowed. Well, I don't think so. I think it should have been CLEARLY SAID and pointed out before any signing is done. Of corse when we signed the pet agreement we were also just finding out about the $460 we were going to have to fork over to The Greens and we weren't really thinking straight.

Anyways, after all that, we were given an eviction notice and had to move in 5 days. We had to REPACK everything and we ended up moving back to the same apartment we came from at Brookwood Village. The Greens need to get their stuff straight and be forward with all of the fees and poilcies. Other than that, the apartments are nice, but the guy manager and the leasing agent that helped us are mean, rude, and they didn't seem to understand why we needed to know all that information before we moved in.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that our apartment wasn't even that clean. There were cobwebs everywhere, half of the lightbulb were burned out, there was someone else's facial hair trimmings in one of the bathroom drawers, the hose to the dryer wasn't hooked up so lint went everywhere when it was turned on, and there were paint spills on the carpet because some brilliant mind thought they should clean the carpet and THEN paint.

Sounds like you should have asked more questions before putting down your deposit.

this scares me because we have already put a deposit down and we marked pets and they said nothing. also like you, i wanted to know exactly what my furnished apartment will look like and all she said was it is nice, not crappy.
