My fiance and I lived in Grouse Run for 6 months. That was 6 months too long for us. The area is terrible. I don't believe that background checks were conducted on potential renters, because it appeared that everyone was a jobless criminal. I did not feel safe living here. THere were many times when I was watched by a large group of men as I walked from my door to my car. Another time, a man was standing at my kitchen window drinking beer at 11:00 in the morning. I also saw a smashed in car window-apparently a break in-in the parking lot outside my kitchen window. Also the parking lot was not well lit at night. I did not feel safe letting my visitors walk from their car to my apartment alone. I have talked with a woman who has owned a home in this area for approx 30 years, and she said the whole area of town has gone downhill very quickly. It has turned into the ghetto
Now onto the management and living conditions-At one point the sewer line to the apartment became backed up. There was raw sewage coming up outside the apartment and running down the parking lot. Definetly a health hazard. The problem was not fixed for over a week. Another time at 3:00AM some type of electrical work was being done to the electrical boxes outside our wall. No one came prior to this to let us know what was going on, and when I asked the management, they had no idea what was going on. Made me feel safe! The "security patrol" was a joke as was locking the gates at 9P.M. Upon signing the lease I was informed that the security will only call the police upon witnessing a crime, and they will not assist (what's the point) Also, the gates are locked, but there are openings on the sides that a person can walk through. And many times I noticed that people had just knocked them down with their cars and drove on through. This is not a safe place to live, and I have spoken to people who live in other complexes in the 122nd St. area and they say the same things concerning safety issues. Don't move to this area, but if you must don't go to the 7-11 on 122nd and Penn!

worse than the 7-11, don't go to the Buy 4 less on Penn and Hefner after dark, and be careful during the daylight
