Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
Okay here's my story.
I moved in around August. At the time the staff was incredibly helpful and cheery. The apartment was in pretty good shape. The floor had the occasional uneven spot, and the painting was done sloppily so there were runs near light switches. They had also painted over the dust on the air vents. Not the biggest deal in the world.
The biggest problem was the stairs to the apartment were splitting and the side bar looked a bit unstable. We left town the next weekend, when we got back we had a completely new set of stairs. So we were thoroughly impressed. We also ended up making friends with one of the apartment staff who even took care of our cat while we were out of town.
The only major problem with the apartments was the parking spots which are incredible small, which causes people to double park even further reducing the number of parking spaces.
Every thing was fine up until March 1st. We cut our rent checks as usual. On Friday my fianc??ot a phone call from the apartment manager. She told me about it on Sunday so on Monday morning I called her. She immediately took an attacking tone saying that we had not fully paid our rent. I asked what had happen, she hastily explained that my rent was in fact $597 not $596 and she had done us a huge favor by not charging us a late fee (of $60). She said I needed to come down immediately to take care of this. I asked her to calm down and informed her I could take care of it once I got home from work around 5:30. She huffed and said if that was the earliest I could come then that would have to do. I chuckled and told her I would be by around 5:30 with a dollar. She said what's so funny, I told it was nothing. She pressed again louder this time "whats so funny!" I responded "well ma'am I just think its a bit silly to get this bent out of shape over a dollar." This set her off she started literally yelling over the phone about what would happen if 50 people all shorted there rent by a dollar... that would be $50. I told her thats really not too much money but I get the idea, its the principle of it. She got furious, and yelled that next time she would make sure that if I was even a penny short not to contact be but charges me the full late fee. She then said "whats your name Jake'" (My name is not Jake) I responded no its "(my name)" and she said "FINE!" and slammed the phone down. I have never been treated in such a way by an apartment manager so I was a bit taken back. I had not missed a payment, or even been late since we started renting in August.
So I left work early to give her a $1 bill. When I got to the Invitational office she was on the phone so I looked around and saw our friend in there. I told her what happened. She explained that there was new management and the manager was new... and that she (our friend) was quitting soon b/c the manager was too much to deal with. The Manager was told I was waiting to talk to her, after I waited for 15 min I left the dollar with the managers assistant. I later called the Managers' boss and explained what happened. The manager's boss said that I should expect an apology later that same day. It has been a month and has never received an apology for the outrageous treatment. So we decided to move out when our lease expires.
SO it was great to live here up until a month ago.
EDIT: I almost forgot. we got new tile in a great addition the apartment, unfortunatly while the tile was getting replaced my wallet happend to get 'lost'. I reported the incident to the apartment staff, their response was short and saying that they havn't had any other complaints (go figure they had just started replacing tiles) so it was probably lost... 3 months later, still hasn't turned up mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH
