Lodge On The Lake: Absolutely Atrocious

Oy vey. One word: ghetto. The Lodge On The Lake apartments are horrid. Granted, they are cheap. However, as the cliche goes, you get what you pay for. The caliber of people who live here is terribly below par. It is VERY noisy (bass thumping from cars and adjoining apartments, people tearing through the parking lot in jalopies, the sound of your upstairs neighbor taking a pee), the air outside perpetually smells of sewer, and people will steal your clothes out of the washers and dryers if left unattended (yes, I shouldn't have left the laundry room with my clothes still in the dryer, but people, puh-leese! You just wouldn't think someone would be so trashy to steal someone's freaking used clothes). On the back side of the complex where the "lake" is you have to weave around the piles of duck poop everywhere. Ah, I can hear the bumping bass from someone's car as I type this. What a wonderful way to spend the evening.
As an intelligent person with standards (I moved in here when in a financial bind -- it was a good deal at the time but I have lived to regret it horribly), I beg of you not to move here. You will wish you hadn't. It is a trashy dump. Paint peeling off the buildings, used condoms lying around (there was one outside my apartment one night), I could go on and on. It seems to even have gone more downhill since I moved here in August of 2003, and then it was pretty darn bad. It is just not a place one would feel safe. There is no peace around here, either. If you aren't listening to someone's music thumping, you are listening to some loud-mouthed skank yelling at the top of their lungs outside.
The management is average. The girls in the office aren't great, but they aren't terrible either. The maintenance has fixed things for me in a reasonable time frame, so I have no complaints about that. Eh, the parking isn't ghastly or anything -- you can usually find one fairly close to your apartment (I do work hours that permit this [6:30a.m.-3:30p.m.] -- if you work 9 to 5 or even come home later in the evening, it may be harder to find a close spot). Beware of who you park next to, though -- the drunk guy that comes home in the middle if the night might leave their truck parked crammed up next to you after raking across the side of your car(this happened to some poor soul) or someone might just hit your car pulling into or out of the adjacent spot (my roommate's car has the dent and huge scratch to prove it) and not even have the decency to own up to it and notify you.
In short, it's a cheap place to live but that's the only positive thing about this place. It is not worth the money you save unless you just can't afford better. If you care at all about the environment you come home to everyday, DO NOT move here. It's miserable. I am just glad I am moving out of here in four days. Hallelujah and good riddance!
