Unhappy tenant

I began looking for apartments in December 2007. I found The Lodge on the Lake and loved it. Feb 1st 2008 was to be my move-in date. I was asked to write a good review online, but decided to wait and see how well things went once I moved in...I'm glad I waited. During the "closing" process I was told by the maintenance lady that my floors in my kitchen and bathroom (which were cracked and peeling) were going to be replaced. We both marked and initialed for this to take place before my move in date. Feb 1st rolled around and my floors were not replaced and the maintenance lady that initialed for my floor replacement was no longer working for The Lodge. They assured me it would be done within the week. A week went by and my floors were still not replaced. I told an employee at the front desk and she said she would leave the new maintenance man a ticket to get it done. The following week, no new floors. So, I directly asked the maintenance man and he promised he would do it the following day. The following day he said "we had a tenant with a heating/air issue today so that takes priority over your floors." He said he would definitely get it done. So, the next week, no new floors. I asked him again about it and he said "the lady that told you she would replace your floors is gone and she promised a lot of people a lot of things and it's not really my problem." I told him it's not my problem either and I complained to the front office associate. The next day (after waiting a month) my floors were finally put in. Now, on 6/31/08, which was Monday, my air went out. I tried calling maintenance but the pager was discontinued so I had to spend the night with my grandmother (I'm an asthmatic and can't take the heat) and I spoke with the maintenance worker AND the manager the next night (Tues) when I had time. The maintenance worker said "why didn't you tell us this morning instead of waiting until this evening'" I told him I have a job and I don't have time to call during the day and I DID try to call the previous night and the maintenance number was discontinued. He checked it out and said it was probably a generator charger problem and he would do it the next day. I work full time Mon-Sun so I don't have a lot of time to call and make sure they do their job. So, my retired grandmother did the calling and the going over to my apartment to make sure they did what they said that they would do. So, she called the following day and the lady in the front office knew nothing about what was going on so she said she would call my grandmother back. The maintenance man put a charger on my generator. I got home at 6PM Weds night and turned the A/C on. At 9PM the A/C was blowing warm air again. I called the "new" maintenance number and he said he would put a new fan in it the next day to see if that was the problem. So, I get home at 6PM Thurs evening just as he's about to put the new fan in. At 9PM, once again, the A/C is blowing warm air. I call the maintenance man again and he said he would get approval from the manager to put in a new A/C unit for me first thing at 9AM the next morning. Today is July 4th at 1PM and he still has not fixed my A/C. I got to my apartment at 11:30 this morning and called the maintenance man and he said he was still in bed and he was about to go fix my A/C. I pay to live the whole entire month in my apartment and I am very offended that I've been treated so rudely by maintenance. Also, at the beginning of my story he said that the tenant A/C problem took priority over my floor replacement. I wonder what kind of service the other tenant got.

Welcome to the Lodge. It won't get any better. I suggest you get a lawyer and get out.

Why didn't the moron realize all he had to do was clean your AC coils? The ACs over there are on the ground, so it can't be that hard...a couple of hours of work and your AC is humming along smooth.
I just can't believe they'd hire maintenance people who don't know this stuff...

I wish I would have read this before I moved in. Now they don't even have maintenance. They can't even keep staff over there. The lady that's there now put in her notice. She said she's had enough. The manager is a "very rude" person to put it nicely. I suggest that if you still live here to file a complaint with the home office.
