I initially was going to move in here and was told I need to put up $30 for a credit check and $100 for a security deposit and ended up finding another place to live. They are trying to keep my $100 security deposit and are saying that I signed away my right to it because I backed out of moving in. This is the damndest thing I have ever experienced in my life and I simply want my money back as they provided no service whatsoever and I took nothing away from them. I've contacted their "attorney" and he won't return my calls and I won't stop until I get my money back. DON'T LIVE HERE!!!

Just find an employment attorney - or tell them you have. Worked for me. Sorry you had to deal with this complex - it is atrocious.

The definition of a security deposit is "A payment required by a landlord to ensure that a tenant pays rent on time and keeps the rental unit in good condition. If the tenant damages the property or leaves owing rent, the landlord can use the security deposit to cover what the tenant owes". No mention to me was ever made that my deposit was "holding an apt." and the reality is that I called them the same day I finally got approved to tell them I had found another place and they informed me I couldn't back out and that they were keeping my $100. The truth of the matter is they provided no service to me and I don't believe for one second they were "holding an apt." for me as they told me they had several 1 bedrooms available. Not only that I wasn't even approved yet so why or how could they "hold an apt." for somebody that isn't even approved financially? This is a horrible business practice and needs to be stopped and I'm going to be the one to do it.

When putting down a deposit on something, you are holding that item. That is the point of a deposit...tell me if i am wrong! Didn't they hold the apartment for you? If you backed out how long had it been, could they have moved someone else into that apartment? Seems fair to me, dude. Sorry you are bitter.

Did they not hold the apartment for you? Did they take your money then tell you they did not have an apartment for you? Did they get your application approved? That is the purpose of a security deposit, is to hold an apartment. I have been a long time resident of Pinehurst and they have always went above and beyond for me. Maybe you should have weighed all your options before putting the deposit down instead of backing out of an agreement to lease an apartment. What makes me laugh, is that you two make comments about Pinehurst being scam artists and atrocious, but neither one of you actually lived there. Sounds to me like both of you need to get over yourselves and move on...... Oh and FYI: I work for an attorney and the last thing you should EVER do, is threaten an attorney, especially when you dont have one. Like you really are going to hire an attorney over what? $100, $200 or even a $300 deposit? The attorney I work for would laugh in your face. Good luck to the both of you ridiculous people!

at ANY apartment complex when you put down a deposit and then back out it is NOT refundable. you would have only gotten it back if you were denied. sorry u didnt take time to read your application but its your fault.
