Can't wait to leave
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 3/3/2009
Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
Have lived there for almost a year, and I can't wait to move. My apartment is in fairly poor condition for what I am paying for an apartment that small. The construction is shoddy, and the previous tenant left the apartment in poor condition and nothing was fixed when I moved in. They had put in new carpet, but did a terrible job and there are several lumps under the carpet. There are several cracked tiles in the kitchen, and the grout is missing between many of the tiles in the kitchen and bathroom - some of it has been "replaced" by clear caulk - horrible! The formica is peeling or broken off of the countertops in several places. The side of the bathtub is cracked. The screen on the patio door is ripped. ALL of these things were reported to management when I moved in, and NOTHING was done about them. The heater and air conditioner in my apartment are so loud that I wear earplugs to bed. The gates to the complex are often broken.
Trying to get anything out of the management is a PAIN, as they are only open 9am-5pm and have often closed at lunchtime when I try to stop at the office on my lunch break. They are open from 10-2 on saturdays, but there is only ever 1 person working at that time and there are several people waiting to be helped. I have emailed them with questions a few times and never once gotten an answer to an email. Most of the time if I call them, no one answers. I have stopped having packages delivered there because it takes several tries to pick up the package from the office, as they are either closed when they are supposed to be open, the manager is the only one there and she is too busy with her kids to help me, or there are so many people waiting to be helped by one person that I am unable to wait that long. Last month I came home from work to find not one, but TWO lease renewal notices clipped to my door with DIFFERENT prices on them. Not to mention the fact that my lease didn't actually expire until FOUR MONTHS LATER. In dealing with 4 different staff members, the only one that has really helped me is a black guy, I believe his name was James. I am sorry to be rude, but he is the only one that seems to know what's going on.
The parking around my apartment is a big problem, though it doesn't look to be a problem around every building. In or around my building, there are often parties held, I guess, because random cars are always parked in front of my building and the surrounding buildings, so if I get home after 8 or 9pm, I have to park several buildings away.
Noise is a big problem around my apartment, but I think I was just unlucky and got stuck around a bunch of noisy people.
I think it's great that they have people come and spray for bugs in your apartment, but every time they come to spray, I have to leave a note on the door saying not to come inside. I am notified that they are coming to spray by a note on my door the day before they spray. I have 2 cats and would have to make arrangements for them to be out of the apartment, and I do not find out they are coming to spray until I get home from work after 5pm the day before they come, which is not possible.
I unfortunately picked this place when I was moving to OKC from out of town, so I didn't have a chance to look at many other places. If I had it to do all over again, I DEFINITELY would've chosen somewhere else. None of this is anything the management should be surprised about. I have asked them if they would be fixing any of the things I reported about the apartment when I moved in, and they said no. The only reason they had me check to see what was broken or marred in the apartment was so I would not be charged for those things when I moved out. So if they charged any of the previous tenants for those things that are broken in the apartment, they sure didn't use the money they charged them to fix up the apartment, who knows that happened to it.
