Yo!

Unbelievably awful!

My husband and I moved in during the spring rush where we were courted by lots of incredible-sounding offers, such as: sign a 15-month lease and get your first month's rent free with NO deposit! Come to find out, after you sign up for that offer, they tell you that you don't qualify due to your credit rating. Our credit isn't bad, so I can't imagine what kind of credit you have to have to get in on these wonderful "deals." Then on top of having to pay that first month's rent that we weren't expecting, we had to pay another month's rent as a deposit. We felt completely cheated, but we had already signed the lease by that point WHICH they never gave us a copy of because they claimed their printer ran out of ink. EACH time we asked. We were told we were the very first tenants of our particular apartment (we weren't!) and were impressed by the brand new appliances, carpet, and counter tops, but upon closer inspection we would've seen that everything was cheap and installed incorrectly. One of the air conditioning vents in our living area fell out during our stay, our garbage disposal never would work (and smelled HORRIBLY throughout our entire residence), the carpet came up in several places, paneling came off the side of the bathroom cabinets, we were missing the opening and closing part of the blinds in our master bedroom (they were never replaced), and we had to make SEVEN requests just to get a silverware strainer for our dishwasher. The maintenance men actually DID make it into our apartment several times, but never actually seemed to fix anything, and not only that, I worked nights and repeatedly reminded the staff that I needed the maintenance men to let me know in advance when they would be stopping by so that I could be out of bed and properly dressed, but never once did they heed that plea. Sometimes their head maintenance man would come into my apartment WITHOUT KNOCKING! I hated being alone with him, but they never gave me any advance notice of when he was showing up so I could have my husband with me during his visits. It got so bad I started having to lock the door to my bathroom just to insure that I could have a private shower or bath before leaving for work. Then another time, an entire crew of carpet layers not only didn't knock, they came into my home, set off the alarm system in the main room and came into my bedroom, trying to physically prod me out of bed to come turn it off for them. They were there to install new carpet in my bedroom...but I had no idea that was the plan and hadn't even had time to get my furniture moved out so they could begin. When I called down to the management office about it, Jennifer very snottily told me that if I didn't want new carpet, to just forget it and called the crew to come back to the office. I never again heard about the possibility of getting that carpet replaced. There was almost NEVER parking available, especially for me, because I didn't get off work until very late at night, but the manager never responded to my complaints about that. Their gardening crew takes up several parking spaces with their giant trucks and supplies, but the day after I asked them to please be courteous of the needs of the tenants, I came out to my car to find a huge pile of bricks placed behind my bumper. My husband had to come home and help me move them so I could get out and get to work. Part of the appeal of this place is the security, but exactly one week after we got moved in, a drunk driver smashed into the gate control system and it took them almost 6 months to install a new one so our gate would open and close. The noise was a constant problem also. We must've been surrounded by college students because there were massive parties out on our neighbors' balconies every weekend of the spring/summer. The security patrol officer always looked the other way. We finally decided to break our lease and move away from these apartments because we had a baby on the way and couldn't imagine living in a place where tenants are the least important people on campus. We gave 30 days' written notice, but they claimed not to have received it until they saw our moving trucks and threatened to sue us and blackball us from ever being able to rent another apartment again in the Oklahoma City area. The Lincoln at Central Park Apartments are WAY too expensive to be neglected the way we were. I would only recommend this place to someone I severly disliked!!
