I've lived here a little over a year, and let me tell you. I cannot wait to get out of here!!
My electric bill is OUTRAGEOUSLY high because of the aging buildings, bad windows, and extremely drafty door that no one seems in any hurry to fix. I've also had tons of maintenance problems. I swear, every week it's something new, whether my air conditioning stops working, my bathroom gets flooded from water that has come up from the sink, my bathtub constantly regurgitating water, my upstairs neighbor's toilet leaking into my apartment, my hot water heater breaking, random puddles appearing in my bathroom.. you name it. The one thing that I will say is that maintenance is fairly fast. But I'd rather have slower maintenance and less problems that what I have now.
Some neighbors are nice, and some are absolutely awful. A lot of people who have lived here for extended periods of time seem disdainful towards us shorter-term people and feel they can complain about the slightest thing. Other people are just flat out rude, standing outside your window at 1 a.m. talking to their friends, shouting to people, drinking beer.. I even had a neighbor's friends park their motorcycle directly outside my window. First, management did not do a SINGLE thing about it. Second, isn't it illegal to park a motorcycle within so many feet of a building'
I check my mailbox once every week or two because I hate going over there. It's too dark, and not particularly accessible.
The fitness center here was part of the reason why I moved here in the first place. But guess what. It's a joke, machines rarely work, and they change the door code on it constantly because people steal stuff. I hate going to the office every other week to try and get the code, only for it to be changed two days later. I haven't gone there in over a year.
In addition to all this, security is an absolute joke. I've had people try to get into my apartment several times, but nothing gets done to help protect my safety.
The management here is nice, but I feel they're extremely inefficient. Like I said, moving day can't come soon enough. I'm mad that I'm going to be stuck here for several more months.
Oh, and did I mention that the water gets randomly turned off ALL THE TIME' I constantly come home to find that my water is off, and it stays that way for several hours. I pay this overpriced rent so that I can have water when I want it, not when they want me to have it.
My suggestion' Find somewhere else to move. It's a great location, but definitely not worth all the crap you'll have to put up with.
