BAIT AND SWITCH!!!!!

our 1-year lease is up in 2 months and i could not be more happy. we rented this apt because we were having a baby and needed a 2-bedroom(and were stuck in it when we lost the baby as well, they don't care about their tenants medical issues at all, when i called them about this they offered to give me a discount for renewing my lease- they didn't get the message that i dont want to live here anymore).
we were toured around the complex- look at our 3 sparkling pools and our glorious parking and our gym! the gym is the equivalent of an upper-middle class home gym. the pools are never open even though they specifically state the dates they are open every year. despite my pleas to the pest control people when they come to spray we have fiddlebacks and ants. we keep a clean residence but it is a losing battle when your apt staff don't give a crap. The washers/dryers are designed to crap out easily- we have had ours replaced in the first 3 months, and serviced last week, we even needed re-carpeting!
our neighbors above us sound like they are fighting or moving furniture every night. I am concerned about our lower neighbors and wonder if they are having similar health problems because an ambulance comes for them once a week. We have had to take it upon ourselves to control the water pump that just happens to be in our back porch area otherwise our apt would flood every time it rains. No one here seems to have control over their dog's bodily functions, despite that baggies are conveniently placed around the complex, so you have to watch your feet to keep from stepping in dog poop. Speaking of poop, the neighboring building to ours has had sewage problems twice visible to tenants indicated by the toilet paper and tampon-filled water glazing the sidewalk. a very pretty sight.
the apt staff must be paid on commission for rentals because once you are here, they do not care at all. I have a chronic health condition that requires frequent medication deliveries from UPS, they put all my stuff in a pile in their office and do not supervise tenants looking for their packages- i could easily have someone else pick up my $500 meds! The last time I came in to pick them up, one of their office staff laughed and said (verbatim) "sucks to be you, because I never get sick, hahaha."
here's my point: the promised pools are not open, the gym is not really a gym, the appliances in the units are of poor quality. if you do happen to find parking, you will be dented, dinged, and side-swiped by other vehicles fighting for that parking. your pest control will only do the bare minimum. If you have any kind of health condition- DO NOT CHOOSE WARWICK WEST!
(oh yeah, and the pet deposit is $400!!!! and part of that is non-refundable!)
I loved the place when we moved in, i could not stop talking about it positively, now i can't escape for 2 more months

Amanda, when you called yesterday I told you how sorry I was to hear about your losing your baby months ago. You said that you couldn't afford to live here any longer and I offered to move you into a one bed or I offered to see if I could give you a renewal special on your rent. Again you said you could not afford your rental rates.
As far as our gym, we remodeled it last year to the tune of $50,000. It has 14 new pieces of equipment, everything one would need for a full body workout except for free weights. I believe that we are a lot better than an average upper-middle class gym.
We have a vendor that does the pest control for us, if your are having a problem then you need to call us in the office as stated in the lease. We explained this to the lease holder at the time of move in. You are just an occupant, and that explains why you didn't know this information.
As far as the pools, Mondays are the cleaning days and they are closed. UNLESS some of the residents and their guest(s) have misused the pools. It is then out of our control because we must have the chemicals correct for the well-being of our residents and their guest(s). We have to meet the Health Department codes. So NO it isn't fair when you have a few people who break the rules and everyone else must pay for it.
We never know when appliances are going to break down. But isn't it great that we gave you a brand new one within a day or two? Even when you called in another work order, we got it fixed again quickly. You did say you really liked Chuck, our maintenance supervisor. I've looked back at your work orders and you have had five since you've lived here, all of which were taken care of within a day to two days. Your lock needed graphite, the washer (twice), smoke alarm (nothing was wrong with it), and the garbage disposal. It's true, you had to turn on the sub pump until Chuck could get a larger pump put in, but that hasn't been a problem since.
The other things that you have complained about are things that no one has total control over. No matter how many letters I send to the residents about not putting feminine products down the toilet, women continue to do it. Yes, I agree that it's ugly. The groundskeeper works so hard picking up after the dogs but we can't be everywhere at once. Yes, it is too bad that people don't pick up after their dogs like they should.
As a courtesy to our residents we allow packages to be dropped off at the office but we are not responsible for the packages.
I am so sorry that you are so unhappy with your situation in life. I feel that because of your unhappiness in your personal life and maybe your health problems is why you have been very unfair in your story telling about Warwick West.
Amanda, like I told you yesterday on the phone, they only way that I know anything is wrong is for the lease holder to call me. I called Garrett, the lease holder, and he knew nothing was wrong except for your cats having fleas which were caught at the vet. He also said that you might have had an asthma attack.
Again, I want to ask that you please call me in the office if I can be of any help. I want to thank you for being a good tenant and always paying on time.

I think if the tenant posts her story as "anonymous," you should probably leave it that way, out of respect for her wish to remain so. For what its worth, these apartments are NOT that bad for those potential renters who are reading this. As with everything, some people are just hard to please. Compared to most apartments in the area, I would say that Warwick is definately a better place to live than most.

I didn't really get much further in your rant than the part where you mentioned they wouldn't let you out of your lease. I lived there and they were MORE than accomodating to "break" our lease! They just required a 30-day notice and that months rent to be paid. Most place do not allow you to break your lease at all and some that do, charge the full months rent AND a termination fee. But as a tenant you have the responsibility to keep up your end of the contract that you signed. You can't expect to just walk into the office and demand out of your lease any given day for any reason.

This response is to the anonymous responder from 05/29/2009 who is apparently a leasing agent/manager for this apartment complex. Responding to a tenant like that is very unprofessional, giving her name and her roommate's name out on the internet is just plain stupid. You are just showing how other potential tenants will be treated if they have problems. I know you probably think that the tenant was never satisfied with anything you did, but you have to deal with all different kinds of people when you are an adult. When you have a customer who is partially paying your salary you don't disrespect and belittle them. I know people like you don't care because you can get rid of that person and someone else will move in. You should really think about what you say before you type it. Ask yourself "Would I want someone telling my personal information online?". Of course you wont be able to comprehend any of this because people like you don't think about anyone but themselves. You probably just told all of this woman's business to regain some sense of control by letting her know that you know who she is, but in the future consider the fact that people reading what you wrote know not to move to your apartments unless they want the same cold treatment. I bet the outright condescending attitude you showed here is not the attitude you show to potential renters when they come in to sign a lease. I bet it's all smiles then. You need to grow up and act like the professional that you are supposed to be.

Excellent points!! The manager's attitude sends up a red flag far more than "Amanda's" frustrated complaint did!! Wow. I am shocked an adult would act that way. I agree - it's a poor attempt to control others (while losing control of yourself! LOL)
