I still enjoy Watersedge, they have lovely grounds and the apts are nice. But recently my maintaince requests have had to be reported two or more times before someone acts on them. So in my opinion someone is dropping the ball. And today after the bad storm blew in, there has been no clean up on the snow and ice. The door ways and entryways are icy and snow is built up in places very high. Slick spots are bad and the mailboxes as well and of course nothing has been done on the streets into the apts. When I called the mangt about this the response was that they don't do any thing and we as the tenant would have to do so ourselfs. I feel really bad for the handicapped and elderly especially. The apts says the policy is that they didn't put the snow there so if they put rock salt down they could be liable. Which seems wrong to me. I know that this is not something the local folks can change so I am in the process of speaking with the main leasing company, SIA. So to me that changes my idea of who I choose to do business with. I try to be patient, but this seems to be something they need to change.

The apartment complex CAN be held liable if they alter the conditions and make them worse. If they shovel off the snow, and leave even the smallest bit of slush, and a tenant falls on that slush, they can get a clever attorney to say that the snow was better than the slush.
If they put down rock salt to melt the snow, then it re-freezes, a clever attorney will say that they worsened the condition, making them liable.
Down blame the apartment complex or the management company. Blame the "clever" lawyers. They created this situation.
