Best place to live for the money in the OKC metro.

First off, I think some reviewers here on apartmentratings.com must be used to a super high standard of living--though you wouldn't think so living in an apartment. Unless you want to pay outrageous amounts of money to live in a new building with new appliances, etc., there will always be issues with an apartment's age and everything that that entails.
That said, I would totally recommend WatersEdge as a great place to live. I moved here because I wanted a convenient location, but more importantly, I was expecting my first child and I wanted to live in a place where I felt my family was safe. I found WatersEdge by searching for the highest customer rating in the area I wanted. And a nice little perk before we moved in is that they have Preferred Employers, and we qualified for a cheaper rate since my husband works for Lowes.
Yes, the appliances are ancient, but how often do you move into an apartment that has new ones' You make do with what you can afford. If something doesn't work right, call the office and hope it'll get fixed. They might have to send someone more than once to do the job, but you can't blame anyone but yourself if you don't try and meet them halfway; they've got many units to look after and you've got to make yours stand out. I personally haven't had any bad issues with my hot water as other people on here have; I can take a 20min shower while the dish/clothes washer is running and still have hot water. I haven't noticed any bad smells either. I will say, however, that the units are poorly insulated, but they did send someone out to fix that the best they could. And rent is going up by thirty dollars this year, but you can actually see that they're using it to fix up the place and do maintenance: the parking lots have been resurfaced, and they're repainting the units as well as putting on new shingles, etc. (it's nice to see that your money is going somewhere besides the office) Though the apt comes with a stacked W/D, they are so old and small that you can only wash like 3 pairs of men's jeans at a time..pathetic. (and the knob keeps getting off track and has to be reset)
I feel totally safe here; I see resident policemen patrolling the grounds on foot at night--how safe is that'! Having lived next door to Tinker AFB, I can easily tune out the passing jet planes overhead. The construction isn't an issue at all--and I live pretty close to it. I would recommend getting an apartment that's on the East side of the complex, as it's much quieter and less through-traffic. It's a very convenient location, with highways nearby as well as shopping and eateries. I highly recommend it.
