Nice manager, good price, but poor condition

Ah, the apartment search. What fun! I have NOT lived at this property, however, it was one of my top 5 choices after looking at apartments for a week so I wanted to post my thoughts.
I looked at Woodscape on a Saturday, and the office was full of both helpful staff and residents. Everything was very smooth, and Terri, the leasing manager, was extremely helpful and honest.
We did not look at a model apartment - we were shown the exact unit we would get if we moved in. However, it was NOT ready for move-in. The place was dirty. Remnants of paper and stickers and dirt were present from the last tenant. The layout was good, but the cabinets in the kitchen were very old and the wood was coming off in big pieces. The leasing agent said that this apartment was scheduled for cabinet repairs the next day, but it was a shame that anyone lived there with such worn out and gross cabinets. The kitchen appliances looked clean but were very old.
The sliding door out to the patio was very hard to open and nearly wouldn't budge. Once outside, the patio itself had standing water and the wood privacy fence was crumbling. It also smelled horrible.
The apartment complex felt "okay" but not what I would call well kept. Many of the units had missing light covers outside and the iron railing hadn't been painted in so long rust had made stains all the way down the front of the building.
Good things:
-Large bedrooms, bathrooms, and closets
-Apartment pays for/provides hot water
Drawbacks:
-Apartment in bad shape - not clean - old appliances
-Not a gated community, not the best part of town (not worst, either)
-W&D hookups are outside on patio (or in sunroom)

I'm a current resident and an emergency situation made me move-in to be ASAP... Teri was also the one that helped me... the unit we were shown was also the one we would be moving into... and it was still a little dirty... she insured me that by the time i got off of work it would be cleaned and ready... my roomate and i had different schedules and she was going out of town that evening... so teri had her fill out the papers and then i came by when i got off to sign my name... she then gave me the keys and when i went in i was suprised... everything was perfect... she then told me if we found anything wrong to let her know and she would have it fixed... i lived here a couple months and beside a random toliet overflow everything has been perfect... and as far as the hook-ups being in a locked room on your private patio.. i think of that as a plus because the dryer does not interfer with your cooling costs

Must have been lucky to get a clean apartment. They knew 3 weeks before I would be there and the place was the dirtiest I have ever seen
