Landlord/Tenant Act Violation

During the recent snowstorm (10 inches of snow), I was amazed to see that nothing was done to clear the entrance/exit ways into the apartment complex. Needless to say - nothing was done to clear the parking lots either. For several days, many cars were unable to get out of the parking lots to enable people to get to work.
According to the Landlord/Tenant Act, the landlord is responsible for clearing the snow away after a "reasonable length of time". Since the snow fell on Thursday - I would have thought that at least by Saturday the roadways would have at least been passable. If I had not have the luxury of a four-wheel drive vehicle, I wouldn't have been able to get out to go to work.
I was also surprised that no attempt was made to put ice melt on the sidewalks or walkways to our apartment doors or that any one tried to shovel away any of the snow to make the walkways passable. I live next to an older couple and I was afraid for their safety when they would attempt to go to their car. The ice was at least three inches thick on the walkway.
I really like living at the Greens, but I was truly disappointed in the service that was received during this time.

From NewsChannel 8: 8 On Your Side: Your Rights Under The Landlord/Tenant Act Location: Tulsa Reporter: Cindy Morrison Posted: January 16, 2007 9:07 AM EST URL: http://www.ktul.com/news/stories/0107/388664.html Tulsa - A question our 8 On Your Side team has been receiving is -- is a landlord required to keep the snow and ice off the sidewalks? Many of you wanted to know your rights under the Oklahoma Landlord/Tenant Act. We checked with a local attorney who works with tenant issues. We're told landlords do have to keep common areas of the complex in a clean and safe condition. BUT, winter weather changes the rules. "The courts in Oklahoma have been very specific that if those are known hazards, in other words, you can look outside and see that there is ice and snow, then the landlord does not have responsibility to keep those common areas clear," says David Keesling.
