One of the best deals in Stillwater

I was surprised to see that no one has ever posted here.
I have been very happy at Squires Landing for almost three years now.
The apartments are big and well taken care of. It feels much more like a home than a lot of the other apartment complexes in town. I think the rates are very reasonable for the amount of space you have.
This is definitely not close to campus, but it is on the campus bus route, which is free to students. I ride the bus every day to avoid paying for a parking permit or trying to escape parking fines.
It's also nice that it isn't close to campus, because it's much quieter than a lot of complexes in Stillwater. I've never heard of any crime in the area, we never hear our neighbors, and the trees and landscaping are pleasant.
I would say that management has not been as friendly lately as it has been in the past. When we moved in, Stacey was the manager and we loved her! She was nice and helpful. The new manager isn't rude or anything, just doesn't seem to be as outgoing and helpful as she was. Of course, I'm not looking to make friends in the management office, so it really hasn't affected anything.
We really haven't had any maintenance problems so I can't complain there. We did have a toilet that was CONSTANTLY plugging up, called the office, they sent someone over and he plunged the toilet and left. Well yeah, thanks, we already did that.
Didn't really fix the problem but a few weeks later it stopped plugging up. Oh well.
The only thing I'd really gripe about has to do with pet deposits. I think they are kind of high and unreasonable. We paid $300 NON REFUNDABLE for our cat. Then, when we moved into another apartment, in the SAME complex (in other words, both at Squire's), they made us pay another $300, NON REFUNDABLE. They said the pet deposit was apartment specific and it allowed them to replace the carpet when it needed it. Well, the apartment we had didn't have new carpet, the apartment we moved into didn't have new carpet, I've never been in one that had new carpet so I wonder where that money really goes.
If you don't have pets, this wouldn't be a problem. And they DO let you pay the "deposit" (I call it a fee since it's non refundable) out over the course of your lease.
All in all, this is a great place to live. It's spacious, well maintained, landscaped, and not too expensive. There is no crime to speak of, no management problems, and the apartments are very comfortable.
