A Total Monet

This place is just like a Monet painting. From far away, it looks pretty and nice, but up close it is just one big mess. I lived in Jefferson Commons for only one year, which was plenty of time for me to decide never to live there again. I have never been so aggravated with an apartment complex in my life. There are so many characteristics of this place that make it an unpleasant place to live. First of all, there staff is just plain rude. When I first moved in, I asked the girl working in the front for a copy of my lease. This proved to be such a bother for her to do, since it was almost time to close. I felt very unwelcome from the very start. The manager is downright cold to the residents while the rest of the staff sit on their butts all day, looking at you like you would have the audacity to come in and interrupt there conversations to make a maintenance request or pick up a package. Speaking of maintenance, they are a joke. When I first moved in, my bedroom door key did not even work. I did not find this out, unfortunetely, until after the office was closed. I called to have my door unlocked, but no one answered the emergency maintenance answering service. I then proceeded to call a locksmith to open my door, which when I called the next day, I was told I would be reimbursed for. When I took it in, the same rude girl told me that they would not reimburse me. After much complaining, I finally got my money back and was given a new key. When that one did not work as well, I called the office and they said that they would take care of it by replacing the lock. This was October. When I moved out in May, the lock was still not replaced. Also early during my stay, the stair light going up to my apartment was burnt out. Several people in our building let the office know, but the light was still out when I moved. The maintenance of the pool was also terrible. I knew that when I moved in that the Commons was known for its parties. However, every morning I saw bottles, beer cartons, and cigarettes laying around, once even seeing a condom. The parties around the complex were ridiculous, especially during football season. I really didn't appreciate coming home and not finding a single parking spot near my apartment and having to see cops constantly patroling the area. I also didn't like being woken up at 3 a.m. to people screaming and throwing drunken scenes near my apartment. Another issue that frustrated me was the changing of the keys to the key cards last summer. They must have felt like it was too much trouble for them to give us ample notice of what buildings they were to be working on that day so we would not be locked out. Imagine my surprise when I come home at 9 p.m. to find I cannot get into my apartment and the answering service, again, does not answer the phone to come and let me in. I had to go to work the next day in the same clothes as the day before because I couldn't get into my apartment, and the same rude staff didn't feel like it was their bad for not informing us or coming to let me in. Finally, when I moved out, I scoured the apartment so there would be no cleaning charges except for carpet cleaning. WRONG!! I was charged a whole $80 for carpet cleaning, cleaning of the bathroom and filling picture holes when I only hung 3 pictures!! The rent is outrageous for such a poorly managed, improperly maintained place that won't even let you out of your lease unless you find someone to take it over for you! Plus, why would you want to live in a place that has such a terrible reputation that it had to be bought out and have its name changed to try and clean up their image! Think about it. I would definetly NOT recommend living here.

I think that his review is definitely accurate when it comes to the worthless staff that The Reserve hires.
