I have never had such a bad experience at an apartment complex. Management sucks and apts are owned by a single individual (129th street LMTD partnership) which is worse. I moved into ashwwod 4qtr 2006 and was lied to from the start. I have a big list of things that management said and did to get me to move in and what happened when i moved out. This place is not recommended if you want your deposit back.
1. I need a washer and dryer and was LIED to and told that "every unit" has a washer and dryer. 2. When lease was expiring I needed a 2bdr w/ loft and was "again" that all "loft units have W/D's". When lease expired I put my deposit down of $200 and was told by the assistant manager/Wannabe/not really any type of manager because cant make her own decisions without talking to momma that i can get a rent price of $660 on the loft because of my employee discount of 5%. I went home and something made me call and ask her to requote the price. Then the woman told me she had to go ask momma and then came back and said that she couldnt give me the discount and to talk to manager about it. I talked to manager and she told me the loft i wanted would have to be full price because was the last loft unit avail. Was lied to again because there was another unit that i had to choose from that faced sonic that i didnt want to see out of my living room window so i chose one facing courtyard. I walked into office with my mean face on and told her to give me my $200 deposit back because i was lied to. She was smart and gave it back to me. The thing i wasnt smart about was renewing my lease for another year in my trashcan 2bdr apt. 3. Move out time!! which i was happy about because i graduated school and have a real career rather than managing a lower end apartment complex and moved out of state to buy a home and make real money. After i moved out i cleaned my apartment. Management always made theirselves "unavailable" or "Out of ffice" when it was time to do the walkthrough and wouldnt return any calls until i turned my keys in. Then came the apartment damage report.... I have to admit my stove drip pans were damaged (in reality $2 each and what apartment complex doesnt replace those damaged or not') and my son had food on wall in some places that most apt complexes can just lightly scrape or paint over. I was told that i had to pay $75 for cleaning the stove. $15 for drip pans. and over $800 for carpet because they claim "was unsalvageable" and was rude with me when i tried to resolve the situation. Funny thing is they sent bill for it and threatened legal action if not paid. As far as i am concerned they have already paid theirselves and owe me some money.
$150 dep - $75 cleaning fee- $15 drip pans- $42.51 prorated electric bill = 17.49 owed to me in which i aint tripping about and get paid more than this working 15min on the clock at my real life job.
The carpet was old anyway and needed replacing. Nothing was beyond normal wear and tear that is associated with carpet that has withstood a few different tenants. They didnt want to pay for theirselves so sent me bill for it threatening legal action.
Management is rude/uneducated/unexperienced and doesnt care of current tenants concerns. Otherwise there were no problems besides the few break-ins, limited parking and loud snotty nose kids playing and fighting all hours of the day.
Was also told by a family member of the manager that i used to work with that they have a few usernames on this site where they add positive reviews for theirselves.
Channel 2 Works For You and all local news channels will be glad to hear about this if they refuse to fix this issue with them.

This rating reads as if written by someone who is pretty good at hearing what he wants to hear rather than what is said. If W/D is so very important to me I would be extremely careful about communicating this (I've been around).
As far as deposits go, get real. Right or wrong, the only realistic view to take on a deposit is that it is a "fee" for living in a place for a while. The best way to control deposit expenses in a life time is just don't move around much.
As far as parking goes, if you think this is bad you haven't seen much. I've never had to park "on the street" here. There are plenty of places where that happens on a regular basis (and I've in places like that).
