I just moved out after 3 years of hell...

...I moved in here in '03 and initially thought it was great...for the first month. The promise that maintenance would respond w/in 24 hours was the first to be broken. Sure, they respond but they don't come fix the problem until you harrass them to. Roaches galore and they do nothing about it except on Tuesdays they contract with some mickey mouse exterminator who makes you take EVERYTHING out of your cabinets so he can spray (what appears to be roach ATTRACTANT) and it does nothing to kill the roaches. Ants...only winter time gets rid of those. Maintenance is sadly a joke...they're untrained and unskilled. Our shower head had a constant leak and the maintenance guy decided to cut a hole in the wall (about 2 ft. by 2 ft.) and install on/off valves instead of change the shower head. So, to use the shower we had to reach into the open hole and turn on the valves and then turn them off that way after we were done. Weird. Office staff is friendly unless you have a complaint. Security is non-existant. They say they have a patrol but I've witnessed the patrol and even talked to the patrol dude. He comes once in the night, drives to the office which is right inside the gate and then leaves. I've had my car broken into 3 times, my husband had his done 2 times. What does the office do' "Sorry". Yea, they have a new carport now but good luck opening your door once you park. Last year my lease was up and I didn't renew, instead I rented month to month...after I didn't respond to their numerous beggings and notices for me to sign a new lease, they began raising my rent to the tune of $10 each month. Finally after my rent went up $30 I asked them how many times they're going to do that and Jeff said (who is no longer w/ them) he's able to raise it as often as he likes and will do so since he knows he can get that price for the apartments. I was forced to sign a new lease just to keep from havin to move on the spot. The pool is nasty. People always jump the gate (if the "patrol guy" decided to lock it that evening...he normally only locked two gates and left the 3rd one open cuz he didn't want to walk all the way around the pool) at night and strip down naked and go for a swim among other things. The onsite maintenance man lived by the pool and just loved the view when this would happen. Speaking of maintenance...if you like a cheerful person, HIDE when they come over to change the filters...they're always mean and in a bad mood.
The first 6 months that I lived there it was a quiet desireable community. Then they started renting to teenagers and hoodlums. Teenagers are great until they're drunk, at the pool after hours, fighting, and getting blood into the pool.
The apartments are indeed spacious but that is all the good I can say for this place. They also used to keep the grounds nicely. I never see anyone keeping grounds now and it shows. The security gate is a joke....if it's not stuck open, it's stuck shut. I don't know how many times I had to park in the bank parking lot and walk home because of it.
Also, your water bill is not your own. You don't just pay for your own consumption, they total the whole complex's usage and divide it by how many tenants in the whole place. Our neighbors were doing their laundry in their bathtub (and they were a family of 6) and using an ungodly amount of water and we had to help pay for it. When someone moves out...your water bill goes up. I'm not even sure that's legal.
If you like freezing in the winter and burning up in the summer, this is the place for you. It seems odd that there's even glass in the window pains...you feel the air exchange even when you're not near the window. Mold is abundant here. Stains on the ceiling from roof leaks.
This place is just discusting and dismal. Please, consider looking elsewhere if you can.
