I have lived at Barcelona for almost two years. I live in a 1BR. There are some things I like about the complex, but I would say the negatives outweigh the positives -why I'm moving out. 2 years ago I was paying $459/month. This year's lease is up to $545/month, but there are newer residents paying less - shows how much they appreciate their current residents.
Likes: The floor plans are bigger than average - large bedroom and bathroom, ceiling fans in the bedroom and kitchen, enclosed patio area. Have never had any safety issues at the complex.
Likes/Dislikes: Having covered parking is nice, but the supports are in the middle, making opening and closing passenger and driver side doors at the same time difficult. Maintenance is pretty fast, but I have had to have them out there on numerous occasions - sinks clogging, kitchen pipes busting, hot water tank leaking,etc. Pool area is nice, but you have to BUY a pool bracelet for yourself and any guests. Gated community, but finicky gates, and not even gated entirely around the aparment community.
Dislikes: The office staff. They rotate about every four months or so it seems, and are not very personable, and several are completely incompetent- lost packages, late rent notices when rent was paid on time, etc. Most recent office staff has done a poor job of getting to know their residents. Poor drainage in the complex, my apartment has flooded because back patio accrued so much water. Lots of bugs, everyone in my building has had cockroach problems and have had to have apartments sprayed numerous times. There are laundry rooms, but half the washers and dryers are out of order - no hookups or washer and dryers in apartment. Property maintenance - I live in the back of the complex, and they don't keep up as well as the front. Cigarette butts and assorted trash EVERYWHERE.

I'm afraid an air of negativity is taking over this place! I've been here several years and it's slowly getting away from the current management 'team'. These manager 'babes' come and go before you even know their names. The latest are totally out-of-touch with the existing
residents. Most of the maintenance team looks and acts like they are here doing community service. They won't look you in the eye and never speak.
With the wind blowing and millions of leaves in the air, several maintenance personnel spend the days with a broom and garbage can trying to capture a few of them. I also totally agree with the general 'too bad, so sad!!' response to our problems. Rents are being increased
because (in the words of the current manager) 'the market is tight and
we can get away with it!'. Being loyal and not moving when cheaper
rents were available elsewhere counts for nothing, because the current
management wasn't here then. The next time Mike Case comes by here he may want to consider knocking on a few doors and talking to the residents. He might want to check out the laundry rooms.........'not working' signs are everywhere. Signs also say someone will be out next week for repairs.........there is no excuse for the management 'team'
not demanding that they get out here 'now'!! It is time for an experienced, competent manager who is going to be here for the long haul.
We don't even have time to train the latest'babe' before she's gone.
We don't need any more of these.
