Absolutely NOT...

I am so glad there is a place renters can go to alert others before they make the same mistake that in this case, I made 18 months ago.
I will make it short.

1)Since I have been here the shingles on the roof over my bedroom have blown away and the ceiling has begun to leak- no response from the management but they DID come and paint over the brown spots when I threw a fit. However...it still rains...therefore...
2) The air conditioning unit has not been working properly since May of 2008. I put in a written request after my oral requests were being ignored and also called corporate. I was told it would be fixed eventually but that over 300 other apartments were without air as well. It is now September and my electric bills have average $180 since June. The temperature in my apartment on average is 85-90 with the ac unit running non-stop. I have been told that they were going to fix it, that they were ordering parts, and ultimately that it is working and they don't see the problem.
3) There has not been a screen on my bedroom window since I have moved in and the screen on the balcony was torn as well. I have requested both since I like to save on energy bills during the cooler months and was told they would put an order in. After 2 months, I asked again and was told that "everyone's screens are missing or torn so we put in an order for all screens to be replaced". This was in May and I am still screen-less.
4) Maintenance has come into my apartment on 3 seperate occasions that I was not informed of. My neighbor downstairs informed me that the last time they were in my apartment my dog got loose and my neighbor had to help them return her to my apartment. I was never informed as to why they were in my apartment.
5) Management has changed 4 times in the last 18 months since I have been here. I have not seen any improvement with any of the transitions.

I am moving this month and am looking forward to it although I would have loved to stay here since I am already settled in. Obviously, that is completely impractical and dangerous since the basic necessities, like heating and air, cannot/willnot be provided. Management has lied on many occasions, maintenance is inadequate, and there is absolutely no reason why I should be supporting their salaries with my rent money.
My only hope is that no one else will feel that they are forced to live here because it is cheap or because it is the only thing available. That is the boat I was in and I regret my decision to move here every day.

If you are thinking that maybe it isn't all that bad, maybe you will get lucky, or that you just need a cheap place to live my only advice to you is do not do it! Absolutely NOT a logical option!!!!

***If anyone who has lived here between May 2007-September 2008 has documented proof of managements inaction on a maintenance order or any other issue that was not resolved and forced you to look for another apartment, please contact me. I do have a lawyer and am wishing to sue for personal damages. Do not contact me unless you have documentation that can be upheld in a court of law***

Wow. That was the place we moved to when we first came to Tulsa. We enjoyed 6 happy years there too, but it was a nice quite area of town back then. Things sure have changed. It's about time someone began suing these investment companies treating thousands of Tulsa renters like dirt just to make a fast buck. I believe the unmetered water charges sent by anonymous sources to every tenant needs to be examined in court as well. My guess is a class action lawsuit would expose an illegal (if not unethical) practice, and put a permanent stop to it. If you think about it, water and sewer costs should be factored in to the amount of the rent we pay, not billed as separate UNMETERED utilities.
