I moved to the Greens on 6/30/07 after seeing the model apartment several times and asking if the apartment I would be getting was EXACTLY like the model. After being reassure it was I signed a 6 month lease. WHAT A FOOL I WAS!!!!!!!
To date, 8/18/2007 I have been unable to unpack because of roaches. I have had the exterminator to my apartment every week since I have been there. The roaches keep on coming. My entire building has been sprayed several times, but the roaches keep on coming. Since the exterminator sprays my cupboards in the kitchen and bathroom I've had to leave all my things packed, sitting on boxes on my dining room, living room and bedroom floors. Before I can use anything I have to wash it. Who knows where those roaches have been.
The counter tops in the kitchen were refinished before I moved in. No one told us they were not dry so we set boxes on them. The next day, the boxes stuck to the counter tops. The counters had to be refinished so they sent someone in to do the job. The smell was so horrible I had to rent a hotel room for the night. The apartment complex never reimbursed me for one dime of my stay. To top it all off, the counter tops had to be redone again. Both times I was unable to place anything on the counters for 48 hours and both times I spent the night in a hotel at my own cost.
Under both the kitchen and bathroom sink, the fiber board is so warped from being soaked with water, you can't store anything on them. And they stink from mold and mildew.
The caulk around the bathtub is full of mold. All the maintenance people did was to caulk over old moldy caulk! So the mold ate thru the new. I put in a work order to have it removed, but no one ever showed up. Finally I removed it myself, cleaned the area and my son recaulked around the tub for me.
The woodwork around the doors and closets show the place was flooded at one time. The frames are swollen and bent all out of shape. The doors are chipped and corners broken off.
My water smells like diesel fuel so I buy water. I shower at my son's home! Who wants to smell like a truck!
I've had the apartment manager to my apartment and shown her all the issues and she even smelled the water. She said because I had new carpeting the formaldehyde was creating the smell and they had a cherry bomb they could put in the apartment to remove the smell. She also said the maintenace people would be in to repair all the issues. I've yet to see anyone to repair 1 item nor has my apartment been bombed!!!!!! STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY.

I recently moved out of The Greens of Bedford and am much, much happier! We took had a problem with roaches. Not when we initally moved in but apparently when others began moving out and new tenants moved in they came out of the woodwork. We had the whole building sprayed every week for a month and our apartment sprayed for a month after that. The office didn't seem too concerned about it. We had a problem with the windows during the winter. When it snowed we had INCH thick ice on the INSIDE of our windows. Then when it defrosted melted EVERYWHERE! They had someone come out and put clear caulking around the windows...but the ice inside kept occuring everytime it snowed. They didn't seem to concerned about this problem either! Also, when I initally signed my lease the office lady doing my paperwork told us that it was month-to-month with no increase in rent after my lease was up. GREAT-we thought! Well seeing that it was our first apartment we didn't ask to see that in writting and then when our lease expired....we got a notice on our door late one evening stating we had to sign a new lease the VERY NEXT DAY or take on a $55/month penalty....so stupidly-we signed (didn't have the roach problem at this time). I will NEVER again live there nor recommend these apartments to anyone I know!!! The community is rapidly deteriorating....I had a gun put to my head at the door of my own apartment at 2:30pm in the afternoon-and I lived upstairs!!! I do not consider it a safe place to live. Get out as soon as you can!!! Breaking your lease might be the best option to get out of that hell hole! I got out of there and like I said....am MUCH, MUCH HAPPIER-safer too!

Sounds a little dramatic! Did you go on Jerry Springer with all that?
