A partial copy of a letter we sent to management before moving OUT:
1.ROACHES (I have had to clear out my kitchen cabinets a dozen times so that you all can spray for roaches! Supposedly you kicked out the source two months ago, but the roaches are still here. And the bug guy who came this last Wednesday admitted to me that they couldn t seem to FIND the source. Roaches are gross. They can spread disease. I spent over 12 years off and on in Taiwan, the Republic of CHINA and saw more roaches in the last 12 MONTHS here at these apartments in the USA than I ever did living in an Asian country.)
2. The highway traffic of 169 is not fun to deal with. Mostly we sleep with a fan on to drown out the sound. Which has worked out fine, but I ll never pick an apt that backs up to the interstate again. Lesson learned!
3. ----- let us know that there had been some major leak issues in this particular apartment but assured us they had all been fixed. We agreed to take this apartment. Of course, the first big rain (one of many last spring!) we had a leak in the kitchen and the first bathroom. They came out quickly to fix it but it left us with nasty brown stains on the ceiling. Not fun to look at for another 10 months!
4. Safety issues. This is a big one for my husband. Over the summer a number of residents moved out and in their place you put a group of men in town for a short period doing work. Four to Six grown men all living together in one apartment is not appropriate. They were often drunk, loud, and rude. Esp to me. As a woman here during the day I felt very insecure for the three or more months they were living here. On more than one occasion they tried our door to see if it was unlocked. I was told by management to call the police next time. That is all fine and dandy but don t you think they would have KNOWN who had called the police on them'! I would have been in even more danger. Thankfully they moved out and we haven t had any more issues with neighbors.
5. The bathroom in the master bedroom. We were told that all the apts looked alike and that we were not allowed to do any major decorating. Painting, wallpapering, etc. This is understandable. But obviously at some point SOMEONE took it upon themselves to decorate . There is horribly dated and PEELING wallpaper in the master bath. The counters had at one point been painted blue to match said wallpaper and you all in an effort to put things back to regulation color painted over the blue with beige. It was bad paint or something b/c every time I clean in there more of it comes up. So I have ugly patches of blue to look at every morning. I trust I will NOT be charged when you one again attempt to cover up someone s idea of decorating .
6. The doors in the first bedroom closet are barely holding on. They have been like this since we moved in. My husband fixed it as best as he could, but they need to be replaced before your next tenant moves in.
7. The outlets around the whole apartment are so old they do not hold cords, etc. There is nothing more annoying than vacuuming away only to have the cord drop out with out even being yanked on. I even have plug ins that just randomly fall out. Which brings me to the next point
8. The plug ins are to scent my apartment home with something other than stale cigarette smoke. My husband and I don t smoke. And I am allergic to smoke and just hate it. We were told these were non-smoking apartments. But all our clothes and furniture have a faint stale smoke smell that is offensive esp when we are away from the apartment. Pulling my clothes out of the suitcase when we went on vacation was NOT pleasant. I ll be glad to get away and have all my things air out!
9. The appliances are ancient. We had to have someone come out and fix the stove within a few weeks of moving in. The microwave only cooks one side of the food. The refrigerator leaks occasionally. I cannot tell why and it isn t consistent. I ll just notice one day that the bottom shelf and the veggie drawer is full of standing water. And if you stand in the kitchen and look at the counter/stove area it is caved in. The whole thing is leaning to one side.
10. During this week s ice storm you all did nothing to clean up the parking lot. It was dangerous and crazy. All apartments I ve lived in before have strived to keep their tenants from breaking their necks in the icy conditions. I nearly wiped out sliding up the small incline to check my mail and that was on Wednesday evening. Three whole days since we d had the storm.
11. The parking lot is horrible in our portion of the complex. There is a huge hole near the dumpsters by the mailboxes. At least five to six parking spots are useless in or area.

I believe you, but in case you hadn't noticed, every complex in the city is going to the fast food dogs. It's not just because of the rising welfare state, it's that property owners are so afraid of failing profits, they'll sacrifice anything to maintain them. The last lease I was offered was an insulting $35 HIGHER than the year before and the place isn't getting any better, just darker.

I'm not supprised by your comments considering this is a Case & Assoc property. I have lived in 3 and they ALL suck. All seem to have out dated appliances and construction even after they say they have "remodeled". Yeah, right. The roaches seem to be everywhere too and the leaks I've had to at other properties. I don't agree with the other response about fear of failing profits considering CASE has the $$ to build 3!!! new expensive complexes. Why don't they just fix the ones they have!! Ugh!!
