the ghetto

My first thought when people have problems with apartments it's because they didn't pay their rent on time or other problems, but I know how I pay and I am extremely respectful of my neighbors. I am not from this area, so I didn't know that this place was located in what is known as "Little Mexico." It looked ok, I would almost go as far to as fine in the daytime when we viewed it. This place was horrible for me. My girlfriend and I moved in right after it changed from case & associates to the current management. It was so bad that we paid 3 months in advance and moved.
There was a shooting in the same building we lived in. My neighbor's car was stolen. One of my neighbors didn't like small dogs, so he put chicken bones in front of my door. We were walking our small dog and a guy sped up trying to hit us while we were crossing the parking lot. The guy looked like he was in a gang. I reported the guy to the office and the "security guard." A few days after that, the "security guard" walked by the guy's car and saw his window broken. The guy didn't report it and it wasn't even for sure that it happen there, but the "security guard" took it on his self to accuse me of of doing it and went on to say he was calling TPD and I better come up where I was that morning. I informed him just because I unknowingly moved to the ghetto, doesn't make me ghetto. A white guy had an apartment in the same building as me (a 1 bedroom) and he was trying to get custody of his 9 month old and the office told him if he did he'd be forced to move into a 2 bedroom, but the majority of the apartments had at least 5 adults and 2 children living in 1 bedrooms...but this was different because they were illegals. The office posted a wrong amount to my account for my rent, so I had an eviction notice on my door for all to see. I went to my bank and took in copies of my rent check. They then said I was $3 short on the water, so not even an "I am sorry about the notice on the door, our fault," just simply you paid before the water bill was printed and the check is $3 short! To top the cake for me, the apartment was cleanerwhen we moved out than when I moved in and the office agreed, but they couldn't find a record of my deposit-so they wouldn't give it back. The apartment manager told me she didn't on site or in that area and she wouldn't, because how it is.
For your own sanity, move somewhere else. Even pay a little more to avoid both the headache of this place and being accuse of being a criminal.
