For full details, please see the Better Business Bureau claim against Remington and Sentinel. Their response alone is enough to have you running away from residing at this complex. It is horrible and far too expensive for what you have to deal with. You simply do not get your money's worth.

I am a resident at Remington on Memorial in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sentinel Real Estate Company is responsible for the property.

I moved into the apartment complex the first week of January of 2006. I have been the victim of several security breaches at Remington. I returned home from a business trip on January 28, 2006 to find that my patio had been hit by a vehicle and pushed back several feet. The gate was clearly out of alignment, foundation was out of place, and the frame had been severely damaged. Beyond this, it posed a huge security risk to me. Had I been in the apartment at the time of the incident or had the vehicle been merely inches to the left, they would have gone through my bedroom window. I promptly notified management of this occurrence and dissatisfaction with the situation. They did absolutely nothing to prevent it from recurring.

On February 19, 2006, I discovered that my vehicle had been hit on the left rear side causing my vehicle to be pushed into the vehicle parked adjacent to me. This caused damage to both the left and right rear of my vehicle. I immediately notified management via voicemail and completed a police report. After determining the owner of the adjacent vehicle, I was informed that it had occurred the night before and one neighbor witnessed the vehicle driving away. Apparently, there appeared to be some loud noises and incoherent yelling as the parties drove away in two vehicles. Unfortunately, the license plates could not be retrieved.

Needless to say, I am disappointed in the security of the Remington apartments. One of my main criteria in selecting this residence was that of the security gate and reassurance by the sales staff that these types of incidents did not occur. I pay a premium in my rent for that assurance, which I clearly am not receiving. Had there been a camera, both incidents and guilty parties could have been caught on tape. Had there been security guards, these events would have been less likely. And had the gates actually been used properly and not been opened, perhaps these deviants would not have entered the premises and acted so irresponsibly. Management simply does not care or is unwilling to provide any form of customer service in these situations.

Based on the fact that I had two of these incidents occur twice within my two month leasing period and the lack of security provided by the apartment complex, I am extremely distressed about the safety and security of this complex. Unfortunately, management has no concern about this and has done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to prevent further incidents.

Also, my company is involved in the preferred employer plan, which allows a reduced rate for residents. This was another reason that I chose this apartment complex. Although my company had not been yet added to the list, I fully expected my rent to be cheaper once they were. On January 28, 2006, this reduced rate apparently became active. I called Remington and notified them. They replied that I would not be able to receive the discount until the expiration of my current lease and the signing of a new lease. So if you are brave enough or crazy enough to sign a lease and will be given a discount, make sure that you address this topic up front.

After the second incident on February 21, 2006, I spoke with the property manager in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who told me they could do absolutely nothing for me. She said she would call her manager to discuss the matter. It was decided that nothing was to be done. At this point, I tried to contact anyone I could that could speak to me on this matter. After several days of calling Sentinel and being promised phone calls, I finally was able to speak with a manager only after explaining that I was filing a Better Business Bureau claim against Remington and Sentinel Real Estate if someone did not speak with me. He basically told me that they would not do anything for me and that it was my personal responsibility. I am extremely dissatisfied with the quality of living at Remington and their complete and total lack of customer service. They care nothing for the safety or satisfaction of their residents.

In the company brochure it speaks of ??living beyond excellence?? and a management team dedicated to ensuring these high standards. This is a blatant lie. They will not work with you and if anything happens, it is your problem not theirs.

I did file a claim against them with the BBB to expose their gross incompetence and lack of consumer concern.

Their response to my claim was basically to add insult to injury and blame me for all incidents stating numerous times in not so many words that it was my problem. They insulted my integrity, wasted my time, and living there has caused me serious safety risks.

It is ludicrous that their final paragraph in their response states that they ??strive to provide a positive living experience and excellent customer service to ALL those who choose to make their homes with?? Remington. Clearly, not ALL have had these experiences. I am only one of the few that have been upset enough to file complaints against Remington and Sentinel. As one can see, there has been more than one complaint filed against these establishments.

Had cameras been used...??? Seriously? 1st of all, I highly doubt there are any apartments(in Tulsa) with cameras in their parking lot (not that they would have stopped a car from driving into your patio)... Secondly, I love the fact that when I lived at the Remington they totally stuck to their word-they couldn't go in and change a lease any time they wanted-I consider that a good thing! Thirdly...There are too many things to comment on in that complaint! That person needs to get a freakin life! Things happen! Get insurance- It's the real world, you're not too safe anywhere(sorry to say). I just got moved for my job or I would have stayed at the Remington a lond time!

Here's their Better Business Bureau report. When I looked at it on 4/24/06 (and it was recent as of that same date), it showed that no complaints had been filed on this company in the last 36 months.

The events that happened to you are misfortunate, but not at the fault of the apartment complex. They do they're best to prevent trouble makers and such from living there, but they cannot provide you with a worry free life. You should have inquired about the cameras when you moved in, I'm sure they would have been happy to let you know they did not have cameras in use. The staff has always been friendly and helpful every instance that I have spoken with them.
