Review After the First 6 Months WARNING!!!

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008

This review is based off of my first 6 months living at the Renaissance Uptown. Pretty much everything is consistent with my first month review, very well kept grounds, quite safe, excellent maintenance service and quality apartment units. However, a couple things that I would like to add after living here for half a year, are first and foremost, the electricity. The power seems to go out fairly easy throughout the complex even during light thunderstorms. To be specific, in the short time that I've lived here, the power has gone out at least 3 times that I know of, and that's not counting the '07 Winter Ice Storm which caused a near 5 day power outage. And what I don't get is that most of the time when the power is out at the Renaissance, all of the other surrounding aparment complexes such as Central Park still have power. The apartment managers never gave me a straight answer to this dilemma. Another addition to my first review I'd like to make is that the walls and floors of the apartments are obviously very thin or poorly insulated because I often can hear my neighbors yelling, laughing, etc. I've even had someone ask me to turn my music down when I could barely here it myself in my own apartment. And now for the WARNING about the Renaissance Uptown...

On December 31st, 2007, EVERYONE in the entire complex received a notice that their rent was to be increased $50 a month at their next renewal period. There was not one mention of a possible rent increase before this time, so anyone who can't afford the extra rent and whose renewal period is coming up doesn't have much time to make a decision. The rent for this place was too high to begin with in my opinion, and because of this sudden rent increase, American Residential Group who owns the Renaissance, has fallen far out of favor with me.
