I am not happy at all with my experience with River chase Apartments. Now I am not one who will usually complain or vent online for the public to read about a facility or place. Normally I would go to the manager directly; in this case I have done that several times and gotten nowhere or was belittled. So I feel the need to let others know my experience so that you may have adequate knowledge of how this place and the management are before you sign your lease. I will just go down the list of issues I have had with this apartment complex. First on the list is the property itself on the outside, It is not well lit in the area that I am in. there however is a streetlight on the property, but has never had a light bulb in it. Shrubbery is most usually overgrown and the grass is not regularly mowed. Now when the new management took over they did put some nice landscaping in and it did look very nice, but since they let the weeds grow over the pretty plants the property looks trashier than before. As far as safety They claim to have security that patrols the complex after hrs. This is not true. Never in the several years I have lived there have I ever seen any kind of security. As far as the rent, I will have to say for the size of the apartment and the area that it is located its very low. As for the construction of the building, well let s just say that due to the poor insulation and poor workmanship of the complex as far as building upkeep you will make up the difference for the rent plus some in your electric and gas bills. Maintenance' Well First off the waiting list to get things fixed is anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 weeks depending on the severity of the issue. To me that is unacceptable. Now my main complaint is with the new management . I moved into this apartment in 2005 and until 2007 the property was owned by Case and Associates. During those times I had no issues with the property or the management. The new management is not helpful. They are rude, and have no people skills let alone customer service skills. I will just give one example, and this is the one that is most fresh on my mind. Recently I was forced to sign a new lease. I was going month to month since Case owned the property. With the new management they raised the rent and educated us that if we did not sign a new lease our rent would go from about $450.00 to $679.00 a month! What' Are you serious' I am in the process of buying a home. I can t sign a lease I will just be breaking it in 4-6 weeks! The manager laughed at me, and treated me and my husband like we were 10 year old children. Then proceeded to ask my husband if we thought she was going to cut us some sort of break because I am expecting a child. What the hell' At this point I am so mad I just sign a 3 month lease and leave the office. Now that I am under a new lease I expect that If I am expected to follow it so is the office. Again I feel the need to state that management is extremely rude! At 7pm the other night a maintenance man gave my husband a notice that they would be entering our apartment the next afternoon to perform some sort of pest control. In my lease it says that they will always give a 24 hr. notice. This is not a 24 hr. notice. I called the office the next morning to ask why I was not given a 24 hr. notice. The manager said that even if it was at 11 at night that we were informed of it, it was still the previous day that in her eyes that was and is as good as 24 hrs. I then educated her that the lease did not state I would be given a 12hr. notice or even an 18hr. notice; I was to get a 24 hr notice. At which point she stated and what s your point' Things just escalated from there. This is not a pleasant place to live. Please choose cautiously.
