I didn't have to live here. A visit was enough!

I was apartment hunting with some friends. As we drove in, we were almost hit by someone driving down the parking lot, in reverse, approximately 30mph. It didn't get much better.

THe place looked horrible and run down. Of course, as expected, the office was quite beautfil and well decorated. The same with a few parts of the landscape. The rest was just bad looking.

They had six townhomes. Two were in use, four being redecorated. (Some hood-rat kids were pressed up against the sliding door of one of the townhouses.) And apparently, English isn't as common at this apartment complex as you would hope.

The inside of the only apartment they could show me, a single bedroom (with some rickety looking stairs leading up to it), actually seemed decent on the inside. It was a bit of a shock, after looking at the exterior, neighbors, and environment. I have to wonder if this wasn't a well kept demo unit.

The office said that they don't allow satellite dishes. I asked them, wasn't that against federal law, which permits renters to put dishes on their own balcony or patio' They said yes, but that was their rule. Kinda scary.

The area has digital cable, and is capable of @Home internet access. (Well, one plus is that you probably don't have to worry about neighbors hogging up all the bandwidth!)

I'd be a bit scared to live here, though. I've placed it at the bottom of my list. 3 bedroom townhouse, 2 story, $635/month.

Oh, of note, you'll find the application interesting. It is a very low quality copy on blue paper. Here are the combined annual income ranges:

$5,000-7,5000, $7,501-10,000, $10,501-12,501, $12,501-15,000, $15,001-17,5000, $17,501-20,000, $20,000 and over.

Aside from the horrible typos ($5,000-$7,5000), you'll also notice that the greatest value in the ranges is $20,000 .

If nothing before this gave you a hint that this isn't an upscale apartment complex, the last item should have.
