Went downhill in late nineties...

Years at this apartment: 1998 - 2001
 
I lived here for three years. When I moved here in 1998 it was nice, way above where I had been living. By the time I left 3 years later I could tell the area was really going downhill and I'm not surprised to see the bad reviews now.

There were always problems with the plumbing and AC. The Lakes area itself was nice, but the various other complexes nearby weren't as good. When you live in an area with several different complexes the area is only as good as its worst complex. I had things stolen once--it was funny, I lived in much sketchier parts of Tulsa in previous years but didn't actually get ripped off until I moved to The Lakes. I was VERY glad to get out of there...stayed there about a year too long.
