I have lived at Wellsford Oaks for several years now and have had multiple issues. I would like to start by saying that I am certainly not what some might call a "difficult renter". My rent is paid on time each month and my Wife and I are extremely quiet. I strive to be courteous and patient when dealing with staff, however my patience has been tested on several occasions. Management and or Maintenance have left our door unlocked on 3 seperate occasions. Each time that I reported this to the office, I got a half hearted apology and an insinuation that it was me or my Wife who had left the door unlocked. We have also had multiple maintenance issues that have taken up to 8 days to resolve. I had to contact Equity Management (prior to the recent acquisition by a new owner) in order to get our 7 year old washing machine replaced after multiple instances of flooding in the apartment. Again, the insinuation was made that we were doing something to cause this problem. The machine was eventually replaced and we have had no issues with the new one. I could literally go on and on. While I understand that issues will arise with any apartment complex, it is the way that the Wellsford Oaks office staff handles these issues that creates frustration. When I have standing water in my home, I do not appreciate having to deal with a carefree 18 to 25 year old girl with absolutely no sense of empathy. The most disturbing incident took place on the morning of Monday June 5th. I was awakened to the sound of gunshots and screaming at 6:28 A.M. Not long after the complex was crawling with Police officers and news crews. When I inquired at the office what had happened, I was only told that gunshots were fired and that the responsible party was asked to vacate the premises. I later found out from a neighbor that one of the bullets had entered his apartment and missed him by only a few feet. 2 days later, the apartment complex has yet to issue any kind of statement. Needless to say, I will be moving very soon and will NEVER recommend Wellsford Oaks to anyone.

I concour. I moved in almost a year ago; at first the complex was wonderful! I'm not happy with the new mgmt. company. I live in the building where the above mentioned incident occured. When I called the office to inquire why 5 police cars had my car blocked in making me late for work, I was given a half-hearted response that implied it was nothing more than a domestic dispute. Not once did I hear that gunshots were involved. I'm sure there are some legalities involved in the mgmt. not disclosing this information. I plan to move soon.
