Terrible Place to Live

When I first moved into Westport I thought that it was a very safe and friendly environment. However as soon as I signed the lease that seemed to change. My leasing agent was incompetent and ended up being fired, but that is true of about half of their staff. Whenever you have a problem they ask for your number and then don't call you back for weeks! Also, twice a day the refinery reeks and the train runs at least three to four times at night. When I moved in they told me it only went once in the morning and twice in the afternoon. Although I only had a three month lease I vow to never live there again. Find somewhere that actually cares about your well being and problems because that is not Westport.

Dear anonymous, Come on it's not that bad living at Westport. I've lived here for going on two years and yes I have had problems too, but the staff here is responsive to issues. As for the refinerery and trains, they are just our neighbors that we can't live without. You must be a student, so good luck with you endevours. You will learn in time that nothing is perfect, so quit pointing fingers because there are four fingers pointing back at you when you do.

I've lived at Westport a total of 5-1/2 years (4-1/2 years in the late 1990's and then after a 5 year absence moved back). Did you not see the train tracks and the refineries before you moved in?? You must be a 20 something. :-) Should they take up the tracks and move the refinery just because you moved to Westport? I can hear the trains, but if I hear it at night (I tend to be a sound sleeper), it's usually just once. And yes, Westport is not perfect, but no place is. But I've not really had much of the way with problems while living here and when I call to request service or have a problem, they are usually pretty quick. You have to remember there are about 500 apartments, meaning approximately 1000 people in the complex, so you aren't the only one living here.

You two are missing the point. There is only ONE entrance to the apartment complex, and it crosses the tracks. Now MOST tracks are used for trains that continually move, so within a couple of minutes the train will have passed on. However, THIS particular set of tracks are used for trains who are waiting to move into the refinery while another moves out. This can take from 15-30 minutes, and often it is during lunch break. I personally saw the tracks there, but I was told by staff that the tracks in front of Westport, not the ones on the other side of 75, were seldom used and when they were, the trains just rolled on by. They never once mentioned they stopped and blocked the way.
Consider this: How would an ambulance come in when the train was blocking them? Through the exit? How?
There is only one exit that isn't blocked by tracks either. That is the one that exits onto Southwest Blvd. For those who are on the Jackson Ave side of the apartment can't get there because the combination to the gate is different to the left wing.
So those who are INSIDE needing to get back to work after lunch can't because we're trapped. Can't wait for a car to go into the left wing because the street entrance is blocked.
Stop treating people in their 20s like they were children. The poster has a valid complaint, and I guarantee there are plenty others living at Westport that found the train situation out after they moved.
