The Worst Apartment Complex in Yukon
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 10/9/2007
Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007
I moved into this apartment complex in June of 2005. At that time the grounds were maintained, maintenance was adequate and the managers were extremely helpful and caring.
Over the past two years, McSha Properties have let this complex totally fall apart.
The living conditions leave a lot to be desired. In November of 2006, I began having SEVERE ant problems (a full blown infestation). Ants were everywhere in my apartment, and I could not get anyone to help me. I purchased my own products to try and fix it, and finally got it under control ON MY OWN after spending my own money. It was DISGUSTING. I contacted management and maintenance on a daily basis, and nothing was ever done to fix it. I was not the only apartment having the problem, the whole building was.
Management is very poor. In the two years I have lived in the complex, we have gone through 7 managers. Over the summer, our mailboxes were deemed inadequate by the USPS, and therefore ceased delivering our mail. The current management NEVER let us know that we would not be receiving our mail, I had to go to the post office and ask why I hadn't received my bills, and THEY told me. I never would have known otherwise. It took over a month before the management fixed the boxes, and normal mail began to arrive again. Finding a time when the management is available is also a problem. They are often away during normal hours. One time I decided to wait for them. After waiting for about 30 minutes, I see them with shopping bags in their arms- they had gone shopping! I was trying to pay my rent so it wouldn't be late. It took me several times to finally catch them. Another time I went to pay my bill, the office was open but no one could be found. They had left the office unlocked and every key to the complex was available for anyone to walk in and take! I had to call a grounds security officer to come lock the office.
The grounds are poorly kept. The management does NOT enforce the lease agreement. People constantly dump furniture and crap beside the dumpsters, which is left for months before anything is ever done (and often it takes several calls to the office to do it). Cars are left abandoned in the lots, that should be in junk yards. The complex is dirty, people are putting trash and other items (at one time I saw a plunger) outside their doors. Some of the windows are taped up with duct tape, and animal food is left outside for strays (and there are lots of them) to devour. The pool area is horrid. The concrete is falling off in chunks around the edge of the pool, and the pool itself is falling apart. There is a platform by the pool that contains a picnic table with an umbrella, and the wood had rotted and someone fell through it injuring their leg. At one time, a pool light was laying on the OUTSIDE of the pool with wires exposed. There was also a point during this past summer that the pool chemicals were mixed wrong by the maintenance, and quoting the manager, "created an acid mixture" (of which my daughter had an allergic reaction to). Needless to say, I WILL NOT ever swim in that disgusting pool again.
It is sad that this complex has been let go. It is housed in a wonderful area, with lots of trees and close to many restaurants and other conveniences. Yukon is a great place to live, but this isn't the place to be. For $589 a month, it's been like flushing money down a toilet. I am look forward to the day I move.
