The thing is, once they sign you into a lease it costs over 2k to get out of it. The amount of money they keep of your deposits is more profitable for them than the actual renting so they have no interest in keeping long term tenants. I lived out my lease and allowed them to charge me $160. to clean the place to their satisfaction, despite the fact that they had collected $150 up front for "move in" fee. They managed to still keep $500. of the $750. deposit without apology.
The architecture and setting is wonderful but the management is poor and the manager is pretty much a space cadet. I'm certain there are quiet places in the project to live but who wants to take that gamble' You really need to know that the management will protect your right to get what you have paid for because if they do not you are at the mercy of your neighbors and you really have no control over that.
I too experienced drunken neighbors, noisy children, endless construction, improper installation of fixtures and appliances. I also watched the utility bills the complex charges for garbage/water rise every month.
This was the worst place I have ever lived and I believe UDR is the most suspect property management firm in the Portland metro area.
Save yourself the trouble, seriously folks, there are better places you can spend your money.
