My bf and I have rented a 1 bd/1 bth loft near the back of the complex for about a year and a half. This place has its good and bad points, but its far from the worst out there...
The positioning of our building is facing trees and is very serene and quiet. Its set far enough away from the street so that you don't hear road noise. The fixtures and amenities are of decent quality, though the bathroom is admittedly much smaller than I'd prefer. We never hear anything from other tenants, and have awesome, respectful, friendly neighbors in our building, but across the way there was a very noisy couple who threw parties all the time. It took some frequent complaining, but eventually they were evicted. The grounds are decently maintained with the exception of the dog dropping problem... there have been fliers and even incentives the management team have tried to put together to fight the problem, but to no avail. The office staff is definitely better than the first few people that were there when we moved in. Parking is hellish and is definitely the worst aspect of living here. We rent a carport. Maintenance though, is quite great and I've never had a problem getting anything fixed. Will is happy to even go above and beyond the regular fixing and will even help with installing personal fixtures and such. We do love how nice and spacious the apartment is, though, and the location is great. It in a nice neighborhood, and we've never had a problem with crime or vandalism.
I think the problems with this place are just problems every complex faces. As far as the move out procedure, its much simpler to get someone to take over your lease through craigslist and the office is more than helpful with the process. Breaking your lease is going to be expensive no matter where you live. Our rent went up only $20 upon renewal, but then it recently went down 10% ... I'm not sure where the claim that it goes up every 6 months is coming from.
So there are definitely issues, but at least you can deal with them while living in an aesthetically pleasing enviornment...
