We've been there 2 and a half years and it's been okay. The rent is pretty cheap, which is why we stayed. The staff is generally great (most of them anyway) and they are pretty "on top" of things. We have never, the whole time we have lived there, had any pests of any kind -- no roaches, mice, nothing. We did have some problems with noisy neighbors, but they were promptly evicted. There was some crime last summer with cars getting broken into, but they caught the guys doing it and our car (which is a 2005 Toyota Rav4) was never touched. One problem is that almost NONE of your neighbors will know English and the "mariachi" tuba/circus/latino music blares, especially on weekends. One guest to our house said the pool looked like the Rio Grande. The --------- are definitely responsible for most of the noise, loitering, messy porches, etc., but luckily our immediate neighbors are ------ and whites, and they've been really nice. The buildings are really old and the carpets/flooring is really nasty. I HATE the bathroom fixtures (towel racks and stuff). We replaced our linoleum ourselves, which helped a lot (and there is hardly any in the apt so it was super cheap to do it). The management isn't very picky about that kind of thing. We are moving out in March because our lease is up and we are ready for a bigger place, but I'd say that if you are not too picky about your neighbors (and you will get lots of --------- in any mid-range priced apartments in Beaverton, Aloha or Hillsboro), then give it a try. It's not THAT horrible.
