I've been at Birch Creek for quite some time and the place has been nightmarish since day one.

Parking is a joke. There are enough spots for each apartment to have a dedicated place - instead, spots are filled by visitors who ignore the designated area or tenants with several cars. You'll also deal with people cutting through from Walker Rd., who seem oblivious to the fact that people live here and drive through at top speed.

Noise levels vary, depending on where you are in the complex. I happen to be near many children, and while I can accept a degree of noise from them, I cannot deal with screaming and bouncing balls against the exterior of the building at all hours of the day/evening. They have an off-leash area for dogs, but nowhere for children to play except in the street and on the steps of the apartment buildings.

General construction and maintenance is the true horror of this place. Lighting outside flickers on and off at random, the railings and steps are rusty and breaking, and the general quality is just horrendous. The sliding glass doors have a metal frame and will drip water all over the carpet during cold weather - you'll especially notice this when the carpeting along that wall becomes stained red and black with mold, as well as in the bathroom, where the toilet drips no matter what you try. The closet next to the sliding doors collects mold, the closets in the bedrooms have both ruined countless sets of clothing and stored boxes, and the weather-proofed windows are so poorly constructed, you'll be dealing with mold from there too. Rooms are uneven and have very strange dips that put objects off-balance instead of on a level surface. As for the kitchen, expect to find odd nails sticking out in places and the openings of cabinets are barely large enough to store plates - e.g. you'll have to tilt them to get them to fit. Half the electrical outlets do not work or if they do, they're loose and plugs frequently fall out.

Maintenance is completely worthless. When told about the ruined carpeting along the sliding doors, I was told that they'd replace that section of carpet.. no mention was made about actually fixing the cause of the problem, just more covering up. In all instances i've dealt with them, i've mentioned the problem, been told they'll return, then hear absolutely nothing again.

Management was fine when Chelsea was running things, and you'd often see her in the mornings. When picking up packages or anything, she was always very pleasant and conversational. Since she left, I have not even seen her replacement once. The only contact with her has been to be told that the lease was running out and we needed to come see her - her tone was snooty and adversarial rather than friendly and inviting.

Overall environment doesn't make me feel particularly safe either. Neighbors are generally strange and creepy - on two seperate occasions, my girlfriend has been blocked into her parking spot while trying to leave because of a neighbor who wanted to tell her how amazing she is. One blasts his stereo all day, frequently screaming at it in some alcohol-fuelled madness. People across the way sit on their balcony giving odd stares while we're in the living room with the blinds open. I've been woken up in the middle of the night on several occasions by screaming teenage tenants, people playing in the pool from 11pm-3am, arguements between people in the parking lot.. the list goes on.

All in all, we've been here and few years and only that long because of trying to buy some decent furniture and go back to college. We're now planning to move as soon as possible and I can't honestly think of anything good about these apartments.

All things you told are true. I agree with you. Management has become bad since Chelsea left. Lani manager was awful. She had bad attitude, cold face, even snooty and unfriendly tone when I contacted with her. She seemed ignore and didn't care about problems I mentioned to fix. I asked for fixing problems many times, but I've been heard nothing.
