Wonderful apartment complex that is close to everything!

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
I have lived in Brookshire Meadows since October 2008 and am going to be moving out sometime in the next month because of a new job in SE Portland, but before I go I just want to tell others about my experience here.
I first moved to Beaverton in May 2008 and was drawn to the center street area because of it's proximity to the MAX line, highway 26 & 217, multitude of shopping choices, restaurants, and coffee bars. Though the area has not disappointed, my first apartment complex did. After living in such a noisy, rundown complex I began checking to see if there were any decent apartment complexes in the area. After a lot of research I settled on Brookshire, even though it cost more per month. I had noticed that it not only looked better, but that it also felt quiet.
My previous year's experience has only confirmed that I made a good choice. The apartment complex is surrounded on two sides by wooded park land, and by a school on one other side, so it is much quieter than other complexes in the area. Also the protected area and park nearby make for a wonderful place to take walks or go running. There is a stream which flows through the back and during the winter and spring you find a lot of ducks and beavers here.
In terms of the apartment itself it's just OK. The buildings were definitely built in the 80's or early 90's and they have that older feel to them. This is most apparent in the bathroom and kitchen, where some of the fixtures are older (my garbage disposal and dishwasher are ancient, and the bathtub seems to be sinking), but everything did work well. The carpets are nice, and the rooms feel very roomy and bright, mostly because everything is painted or decorated with light colors, and the windows are large. I also loved my view, as I was on the third floor overlooking the stream and nearby wildlife area.
Where this place really shines though is in the service. The management is very friendly, and maintenance requests were answered the same day. It feels like the management actually cares whether they have a good complex, and this care really shines through in everything they do.
If I had to complain about anything I would say that finding parking is difficult if you get back late, and that some of the fixtures could use some updating (see above), however these problems are rather nit-picky, and overall I would highly recommend this apartment complex to any potential renters. Now if only I can find someplace in the Southeast that can live up to Brookshire's standards!!
