Thoughts from a 5-year resident

I'm a single resident with no kids or dogs, and I very much enjoy living here. I've lived in several different apartments in Cambridge Crossing over the past five years, and I've found my neighbors to be considerate and quiet, for the most part. The neighborhood is absolutely beautiful, it's a 10-minute walk from the Max and a 5-minute walk from the Walker Road Fred Meyer. I can't speak to parking because I'm a non-driver.
There are indeed a lot of kids in the property, so I'd recommend a 2nd or 3rd floor unit to avoid hearing the pitter patter of little feet. Also, if the sounds of kids playing is annoying to you, this wouldn't be a good match (personally, I don't mind it).
The management is responsive but understaffed. Fortunately, this doesn't show up in response time to repairs (normal turnaround time is 24-48 hours), but it does show up in the ability to keep the office open when only one staff person is available.
The apartments are new and nicely designed, each has a full-sized washer & driver, a pantry and walk-in closet. A fitness center, 2 swimming pools and free DVD rentals round out the amenities rather nicely. The grounds are gorgeous and kept up very regularly.
An earlier comment mentioned a focus on attracting new residents rather than retention. That's my impression, too, especailly when it comes to renewing one's lease. I had to fight to keep my rent from increasing $80 when my 6-month lease was up, and it was clear that the decision was being made over the manager's head. The best strategy to avoid rent increases is probably to sign up for 12-month lease.
I would recommend Cambridge Crossing.
