Absolutely the worst in EVERY way

Prior to buying my house, I lived in many different apartments over a 10 year period.. Canyon Park by far was the worst I had experienced in any apartment. At first glance, everything is nice, and well cared for. The apartments are big, good floor plans, seem to be updated nicely, great location, and friendly nice staff. HOWEVER, then you move in and you realize that things werent quite as they seemed. The problems started the day I went in to sign my first lease. The lease was prepared, and explained to me, everything seemed good, and I signed it. I was half way moved in, and the manager called me and told me that the lease that I signed was incorrect, and I needed to come in and sign a new one. I was promised a six week rent consession for signing a one year lease, and the original lease I signed had that conession on it, however when I went to sign the new one, it was not there. I was told that I was not entitled to that, and the leasing agent that promised that to me, and wrote it into my original lease, had done it incorrectly. When I voiced my concerns to the manager, she got very defensive, she told me to basically just deal with it. I did, and moved on. I really had no other choice. The apartments are updated with the cheapest materials and workmanship they could possibly find, cutting corners everywhere they possibly could. In my 3 years at this complex countless things went wrong, gas fireplace randomly shut down, dryer broke, leaky water pipes, dishwasher needed motor replaced, and so on and so on. In April 2007 I bought a house, broke my lease, paid my fees and got out of there. I thought the worst was behind me, however it was actually just starting. Two months after I moved out, I still had not rec'd any kind of closing statement, check, and/or bill for any repairs. I called the complex and was advised that to their knowledge they knew nothing was wrong, but they would follow up with their main office, and get back to me - no one got back to me. Three months later (so a total of 5 months after I moved out) I rec'd a call from probably the rudest person I have ever in my life spoken to, advising me that I have not paid a $1008 bill for repairs to my apartment. Long story short, when my address was entered into their system, they transposed the zip code, and it went to my address in the wrong city. At this point, I was told that it was completely my responsbility to follow up with them if I did not rec any kind of closing statement, which I told him that I DID make a call, and no one bothered to deal with it. He told me that it was my responsbility to make multiple phone calls until I rec'd something.... after arguing with him for 10 minutes, he tells me that unless I pay with a credit card, or find someone to pay with a credit card for me by the end of that day, a lawsuit would be filed against me the following week. Having never had a situation like this come up, I had no idea what they were actually capible of doing, so I paid it just to get the nightmare overwith. Two emails, and a phone call to their main office regarding this situation, went unanswered. Bottom line is, if you value your sanity, and the money in your bank account, DO NOT MOVE INTO CANYON PARK! They do not care one bit out their residents, and will pull every trick in the book to get you to sign a lease.

well i'm into year two and my experience has been nothing like that. nice apt, quiet, nice folks in the office, things fixed quickly and so on. no complaints. sorry to hear of your bad experience. this is probably the best apt complex i've lived in even comparing it to ones much more expensive.
