I moved into this apartment in 2003. At first it seemed very nice. It was larger than my previous apartment, etc. However, there is a huge mold problem here. My window tracks and sills are FULL of nasty mildew and mold and maintenance has been there several times. Also, my rent has gone up every single year since I have moved in, not to mention that most recently we started being charged for cable. Anywhere else I have rented from the cable and water/sewer have been FREE. Fountain Park charges for both. I can barely afford to keep my apartment!
When my husband and I separated I asked if I could transfer to a one bedroom unit. There was one available, however I was informed that I would have to go through the entire screening process again and I have lived there for over 4 years! I would have had to pay the application fee, plus a deposit, rather than just signing a new lease.
Also, the compactor is disgusting as garbage is allowed to pile up. Supposedly the office is supposed to check to see who is dumping out there, but I have yet to hear of anyone being charged for someone else cleaning up after them. They are simply trying to use scare tactics, while I am having to wade through mounds of garbage to throw my things in the compactor.
I am surrounded by mud and water, as there is not adequate drainage when it rains. This complex is not secure and suspicious people are roaming the grounds and parking lot at all hours of the night. I have nearly run over people's children numerous times because they don't have the sense to keep them out of the parking lot. In the end I hated living here. Hopefully this review will make it so that not so many other people wind up in the same situation. My list of complaints could go on and on, but I don't think I need to.

I lived there until a year ago--You mean they STILL haven't done anything about the drainage or garbage? Around the time I left, they were supposedly doing all they could for the drainage issues.
Well, if you have 4 years of rental history, and haven't had any big ugly marks on the record there (ie paying rent late), most decent places are okay with that, and you just sometimes have to pay a little extra on the security deposit for the bad credit. There are a LOT cheaper than Fountain Park.

I lived there for two years, and have experienced the same problem. I have even had to throw out furniture because it go ruined by mold. I also have heatlh problems with the stuff and was sick most of the time living there. When they came in to fix it all they would do is paint over it and tell me it was fixed. The apts are a nightmare. I hope you are able to get out of there soon.

I'm sorry but I work for an management company and i'm tired of communities getting ripped apart because your not being treated like a king. I have never actually seen this place or heard of it really but I know how hard and demanding residents can be. Everything is to the extreme and nothing is your fault! The customer is always right? I think not. Have you ever heard of cleaning your apartment to prevent the mold you say you have? Have you ever thought that you might be able to change a light bulb on your own to keep the underpaid maintenence staff on an easier work load? And i'm sorry but I've never lived in a place where cable and water/garbage/sewer is free. Have you ever heard of OPTIONAL?? That means that this a a choice, not a life long guarantee. They didn't HAVE to offer this and your welcome for the hundreds of dollars that you saved and we didn't! You obviously dont understand the fairhousing laws do you? If you let one person just straight across move into a smaller apartment then you have to do that for people moving into larger apartments where they might not be able to afford rent. There are laws for a reason. To protect companies from going under. Maybe if you think your place is such a -------- then there SHOULD be more fees and deposits! Would that make you feel better? If there were more money coming in, they might be able to upgrade, or hire more staff, re-paint. I wish any of you could see the massive bills that come in for apartments for repairs, paint jobs, hiring out etc. It's a small fortune. And people coming into the office bitching about how they didn't know when rent was due and dont feel they should pay the late fee have no clue. Stupidity is not the way out and i'm sorry but did you ever think to read your lease? or maybe ASK SOMEONE!? Nobody will understand the same repetitive -------- that you get on a daily basis and we will never be appreciated for it. We can be the most respected management company on the face of the earth but when it comes down to it, some pissed off previous resident will always ----- about how they were mis treated because we didn't make any exceptions for them. Well... good luck finding that place where you ARE the king. When you do, let me know, i'd love to live there!

I believe its the apartments duty to fix mold issues, and it actually against the law. You see if an apartment refuses, or is neglectfull to address an issue of mold that is obviously not the residences fault. As in my case where in 2005, and 2008 there was a flood in our backyard because the drain pipe was not set up accurately causing gallons of water to rush into our perfect apartment, and then our apartment above us water heater breaks, and then there water pipe breaks. Sending down enough water to put an inch of standing water on our floor, and in our kitchen. That really isn't being a jerk to expect the apartment management to fix it. Nor is it being a King or Queen having a reasonable expectation that the State has put in a law for the apartments to solve as soon as the resident notifies the apartment, as long as they do so in a reasonable time line. So sorry if you feel that residents who follow the guidelines set by the apartment, and State have a expectation for the apartments to do their part.

Here's my response to you anonymous management worker woh responded to my review 11/05. I did always change my light bulbs, clean my apartment, etc. The point about the mold is, the apartments are infested with it! It doesn't matter how many times you bleach, clean, scrub, etc. it comes back! I even had it under the linoleum in my bathroom! When it rained, my window tracks flooded with water causing a ton of mold. Please tell me how as a resident this was my responsibilty? I put in a maintenance request to have the windows resealed to prevent this, but it was either never done or never done correctly as the tracks continued to fill with water. I notified the complex several times that the deck above me was rotting away and they never fixed it. The maintenance person was always friendly and when he was able to get to my request, took care of it in a timely manner. He is in fact, the only thing working in favor of Fountain Park. Notice that I am not complaining about all complexes, in fact the one that your company manages might be very nice. I am saying Fountain Park is a bunch of mini-shacks with a pleasant exterior. Feel free to come live there. Just make sure you get a top floor apartment so you don't have to worry about the drainage problem.
