Beware of new California Corp owners - they will try to keep your refundable security deposit

Even though it was written right on my lease, Cambridge Mgmt (the onces that took over when the new owners bought the place - new owners are a California Corporation) tried to lie to me and keep all of my deposit. BTW - I used to live in LA and rising rents a huge amount each year and trying to keep your refundable deposit is how the California Corporations operate. Of my 10 years experience of living in LA at least 90% of the owners did everything they could, including lying, to keep refundable deposits. I have many letters from owners of houses, etc. that I have rented that state what great care I took of a place and how clean I left it so it has nothing to do with cleaning or damage issues. That is exactly what happened to me after living at Hunters Run almost 5 years. They lied about not having a deposit from me and luckily I know a real estate lawyer, otherwise I would have been stressed and thought that I could not get my deposit back - but I did - as my refundable deposit showed right on the lease. I was an excellent tenant, I never had one complaint against me and left the place cleaner than when I moved in so I am glad I knew someone who let me know Cambridge Mgmt was lying when they tried to get out of returning my refundable deposit.
I did like the apartments very much for the almost 5 years that I stayed there (except for the strong cigarette smoke seeping into my apartment from the downstairs tenants) but the new owners and mew mgmt are cut-throat. I too (like others there) could not afford having my rent increased almost $200.00 per month and so had to move. (That is when they seemed nice but tried to keep my deposit by saying that they did not get my deposit from the prior prop.mgmt. company - BTW if they tell you that --- that is not your problem - it is their problem!) so watch out.
