Potential resident makes the right move and GETS OUT!!

I actually was a potential resident who was pretty much forced to put a deposit down on an apartment. The $200 deposit was supposed to be fully refundable upon notification of approval if we decided not to move in after 24 hours of approval. While speaking with the leasing agent she insisted we put the funds out for the apartment even though we did not have our check book with us. They had us put the charge on a credit card. I wondered why they wanted our money so bad, now I know why. After a week went by we called the office to see about our approval. We had not been approved at that time because they were waiting on our background check. We were advised we would get a call letting us know when we were approved. A week and 1/2 later I finally called back due to no response and was told I was approved over a week ago and I no longer had the option to get my money back because I did not want the apartment. They would not work with me and pretty much called me a lier and told me I got a call and a voice mail, which I did not, and my phone records do not show a call either! I disputed the charge through my credit card company and they finally said "We'll let it go back to your card company once it comes in" but they refused to refund me at that time, making it that much harder on me.
They then had the nerve to offer to take the money over to a new apartment as a courtesy.
