Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
I've lived here for two years. I have second story apartment in a three story building.
Parking:
Is a concern if you have more than one vehicle or an active social life. There are limited guest parking spaces, and you are entitled one covered spot, to which you are obligated to pay for. This last winter, we recieved notices that the carport covers were collapsing from the snow, and we had to park elsewhere, but no suggestions as to where the cars could be moved were provided, nor refunds for our time out of parking spots. It's a safety issue and very inconveniant.
Noise:
As aforementioned, I live on the second story, of a third story building. The people above me, I believe have 2 small children, which occasionally gets loud due to the thumps and bumps of jumping. However, the apartments are made very well and I have to date, never heard a single thing from any of my surrounding neighboors. Below, to the sides or any vocal noise from above. It's more like a house than an apartment even being on the middle floor. I've lived in loud apartments and this place, is a godsend for quiet.
Grounds:
I am indifferent about this. Gardening crews come, there are sprinklers. However when we had massive amounts of snow, management did nothing to improve the very narrow driing inlet or the snow in the lots or parking spaces. It became an icy, dangerous mess for over two weeks and absolutely nothing was done about it and no resources were expended to improve the situation (like shoveling or salting). From a road side view, the complex is pleasant to the eye. I would not be ashamed to bring family here.
Safety:
If you're going to have a fire, Progress Terrace has implemented some serious fire alarm systems and that is a plus (if occasionally irritating). The tenants are reasonably tame and I've never once considered my safety or thought twice about leaving my car parked below. I feel safe in the community. The only issues I would have addressed about safety are in the paragraphs above about poor response to dangerous weather conditions.
Construction:
These apartments, are very well made. Not only do they retain heat (as I have never once had to turn a heater on even when it was 23 degrees outside) but they are asthetically everything you could hope for. They are beautiful and spacious and some time went into the construction as well as the layout. Compared to most other apartments I've been at, Progress Terrace takes the cake. I never run out of basic storage, the floor plans are great. The walk in closets are to die for. I love the apartment itself.
Maintenance:
In my experience, Maintenance has been prompt and responsive. I've only had two incidents that I required they visit, but on one occasion my garbage disposal had fizzled out and it was replaced within the hour of my request for service.
Staff:
The staff is ususally very helpful and friendly. I have however, gone into the main office and was treated in a condscending manner by the manager herself when requesting information, but everyone else I've delt with has been very patient and it was a pleasure interacting with them.
Overall:
For apartment life' This place isn't bad if you can over look the parking and no amenties. They are beautiful, large, new-er. For the price' It cannot be beat. If you compare the rental rate to all of the surrounding complexes you will find that for the square footage, and size, you're getting a whole lot more for your dollar.
