Not Good Experience(9/20/06 update included)

Where to start. First off when came here to move in found out the entire maintence staff walked off the job, the apartment wasn't cleaned, bathtub wasn't resurfaced(still hasn't been fix after six months of continuing nagging). Basically they pulled a bait & switch because I was supposed to move into a different unit but that tenant resigned or something. Showed up here to move in & got stuck with this place. As soon as the lady(no longer employed at the complex) told me the whole maintenance crew walked off the job that same day & I found nothing in the place cleaned. I knew this place was going to be a mess to deal with. Nothing gets repaired. The final straw was when I couldn't get anyone to come look at the smoke alarm which was beeping loudly for about 2 days. Called the office from work & requested someone please take a look at it since I wasn't willing to touch it because I don't know if its tied into some sort of system(I don't feel comfortable tampering with the alarm). Came home from work & it's still beeping. No one came to look at it. Went into the the office to get someone to look at it, office staff told me to just stick a new battery in it & its ok for me to tamper with alarm. Put a new battery in & its still beeping. By this time the office is closed. Smoke alarm still beeping til around 8pm that night. Finally, I called the emergency line for the complex & was informed that no one is available til the next day. At this point I'm about to call the local fire marshal. Luckily the alarm finally stopped beeping on its own. Lease is up end of next month & of course staff is unwilling to negotiate so I can keep my same rent or have a small increase. Even though when I originally moved in I addressed this issue up front & was informed I could stay with same rent if I signed an extension on my lease. If I stay I end up paying over $700 a month. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this because it is an apt complex & the market prices for place can change. Oh yeah, they can't keep their books straight. At least twice a month get a notice in my door saying I own them $, when I go to the office to investigate turns out to be an error. Well the attached garage & washer/dryer in unit are really nice. That's the only nice thing I have to say. If the management was better & things would actually get fixed I would consider paying the extra $ cause I do really like having the attached garage & place is quiet. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt cause it is a big complex. Just can't believe after 6 months of repeated requests to fix things I can't even get a call back from maintenance. Maybe I just got too pampered at my previous complex where the same staff ran the place the whole time, their books were kept in good order & things got fixed promptly upon request.

9/20/06 This is an update & still having problems. I moved out the end of May/2006 & gave them my last utility payment on 5/31/06 with a check. This check will cover the utilities I used in April/2006. This would also mean that the utility bill for May/2006 would taken out of the moving out refund fee. As usual Reflections can't keep their books straight. First thing I notice when I get my move out summmary is that I'm being charged $74.47 for utilities. My first response is why so much money' Shouldn't it be half of that to cover utilities for the last month I resided there' I go to the office to inquire about the $74.47 utility move out fee. They inform me that this is for utilities for the last 2 months I resided there. I then inform them that the check I gave them on 5/31/06, to cover utilities for April/06, was cashed around 6/2/2006 & cleared my checking account. After they researched the matter further they found that the check did clear & posted to my ISTA balance on 6/1/06. At this point they established that the $74.47 must be a mistake but they would need to speak to the staff member that deals with move out refunds issues. I heard back from them a day or so later & was informed what happened. The staff member that handles move out issues created the move out report before the check was cashed & thus she didn't factor it into my move out report. I received a signed statement from the manager at that time, Lisa. The statement basically said that I was actually owed $118.15 instead of the original refund amt of $80.53. It also stated they did make a mistake on the original move out report because the didn't factor in the check that was provided on 5/31/06. I understand it was an honest mistake & no hard feelings against the staff. Of course when I receive my refund check a few weeks later it's for only $80.53. So I go down to Reflections & inquire why it's not the $118.15 it should have been. Get a response that they'll research issue & speak with corporate office. Get a call back from manager Lisa a month or so later saying that I should receive the rest of my refund money soon. Of course, at this point I would be shocked if I actually got the check. So now it's the end of September & still haven't received the rest of the refund check. Go back into the office today & of course no one works there still. A completely new staff & they'll look into it. This is the same problem I had when I was there. There's always a new staff every month. Bottom line keep everything they give you. Also, have a staff member clearly sign & date the document because odds are you'll need it later on when they screw up their books. Like they seem to do every month.

Oh yeah, forgot to add that about 2 weeks before I moved out the toilet was nice enough to stop flushing. Once it was flushed once it would not flush again for approx. 15 mins -1 hour. Of course I immediately requested a maintenance staff member look at this since it is a sanitary situation. Of course it never got fixed. Just one more gripe to add to the list lol.
