After reading past comments, thought I'd put my 10cents in:

The walls are indeed thin. You have to not care about noise (as one should, to a point, while living apartment life) from your neighbors merely living. The comments about hearing your neighbors use their bathrooms and laundry machines are very true. Most tenants who live in my part of the complex have been thoughtful of those around them.

The staff is quite often aloof. They are responsive when needed. Unlike many apartments - more often than not - I don't feel that I am shunned for being a resident. Not saying that they are my best buddies, and yes - I'd rather not have anything to do with them if at all possible; however, when needed, they are pleasant and accept that we'd all rather be left alone. I must admit - it is nice that I see a few of them checking up on things while walking their dogs (ie: complaints about neighbors and appearances of decks).

The maintenance staff really needs someone who knows what they are doing. They have yet to learn how to determine if a major appliance needs to be replace (I guess that's a problem with all rentals tho) as well as how to identify when something is just not being properly tended to.

The apartments are pretty air tight - I have yet to feel wind rip from under our doors or thru unsecured windows. Mold is a problem - but that's how it is in the Great NW - keep on top of it at all times and you don't have a problem.

The general area is pretty safe. Safe enough for a woman to walk early in the mornings and not worry so much about being mugged or raped.

Good place for kids - there's lots of them there. Pool is fun and clean. Events are held regularly, however without upmost effort put to them. The monthly tenant luncheons are not spectacular - and one usually finds that parents send their kids to narf down on the food-stuffs offered. The annual party is fun. They have patio-beauty contests which are cool, unless you have kids around who terrorize your plants and belongings.

I have suggested friends to live here and they are happier here than they previously were at former rentals. We plan to stay for a few more years. :)
