Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
My boyfriend and I moved in with a roomate in December of 2004. Sue Jackson was more than eager to help us with anything that we would have questions with...or so she said. Our cars were broken into SEVEN times in the last year and brought our grand total of stolen property to around 5,000.00. The only thing that they could say about what was going on was that we were "probably being targeted" which was a load of bull. My younger sister called one day and pretended to be interested in an apartment and said that she had some problems with people breaking into her car in her complex and wanted to know how theft was in that complex. Sue avoided the question and just said that she didn't have any problems and that she had three cars...mind you her and her boyfriend had them in garages that were probably given to them for free and there were never any available to tenants. The final straw was when i tried to leave for work at six in the morning and half asleep i tried to back up and found that the wheels off of our car had been stolen. We threatened legal action to which we got the most a***H*le response ever. They threatened us right back and started pulling figures out of their a** about lease termination fees. It was only then that they offered us a free garage ( mind you we are on opposite ends of the complex from our garage in an area of a million apts ) They were giving us this garage behind their management companies back too! they blatently said, "they won't notice if it isn't rented for a month or two, but after that their ears might perk up" Parking is HORRIBLE...especailly in the 400 section. We've had a serial rapist on the grounds and police in and out all the time. Once there was even speculation that the smell of a dead body was coming from an apartment just steps away from us.We had a 1,200.00 bike stolen from our apartment...a dryer that stopped working more than once in a years time and took (between both problem times ) a month to fix and or replace. the dryer guy told us that if we used the dryer that it was a fire hazard and we were not by any means to turn it on. two weeks later management seemed "shocked" about this and told us that it was not a fire hazard. we were out an insane amount of money in laundry mat fees in using the communnity washer and dryer and they promised to refund our money because they couldnt keep their information straight on anything and we haven't heard about it since. We had a friend from seattle down for eight days and the sixth day into her stay with us we recieved a letter notifying us that she had to be put on the lease when the law clearly states that if someone else is there for fourteen consecutive days that it is then and only then that they have to be added to the current lease. they are very quick to hand out trash violations especially on saturday cleaning days when you are compliling trash on the outside of your apartment so you don't have to make twenty trips to the incovienently located trash compacter that is broken ninety percent of the time. Be very careful when you park your car because most areas are not properly lit. you will be broken into....or your gas will be syphoned...or sugar put in your tank. you'd think they did a background check on people because we had forty year old crack addicted strippers with a high school aged kid who had girls he met on the internet in and out of the apt. at all times of the night. there was clouds of marijuiana coming into our bedroom window a lot and before them we had the unplesant experience of having cocaine dealers living below us. no one cleared it with any of the residents we realized when we woke up on a saturday to the sound of a full-blown mariachi band playing right outside our apt that came for a little girls birthday party. be sure to take pictures and document everything...i mean everything in your apt. our countertops werent even properly attatched because they swayed when we cleaned them. they will charge you up the wazoo for things that they by law have to do either every year or when every tenant moves out. PLEASE DO NOT EVER MOVE INTO THIS PLACE....IT IS BEYOND HORRIBLE
